INTRODUCTION

 CATIA is an acronym for Computer Aided Three-

Dimensional Interactive Application.
 It is the most proficient, powerful and highly
popular CAD i.e. computer aided design software.
 It is created, developed and owned by Dassault
Systemes of France.
 IBM was the leading marketer of CATIA till 2010.
 Because of its high usability, CATIA certification is
one of the most popular and sought after
certification in market.
WHY CATIA IS USED ?

 There are some uses of CATIA that are exclusive and we cannot find
those in any of the 3D software. These uses are –
 It has a wide array of tools. If the user has the right licensing, then they
do anything such as sheet metal design, surface design, mechanical
design or assembly.
 Parametric capabilities that can be used to modify designs.
 Contextual design can be maintained with publications that are used to
link models and build complex design interfaces.
 It provides the ability to visualize products with ease.
 The CATIA V5 FreeStyle Shaper lets designers shape surface models by
manipulating control points
BASIC TOOLS OF CATIA

ASSEMBLY TOOLS :

 Coincidence Constraint – this command create a coincidence

constraint between two components of the active component;
 Contact constrain – creates a contact constraint between two
components of the active component;
 Offset Constraint – creates an offset constraint between two
components of the active component;
 Angle Constraint – creates an angular, parallelism or perpendicularity
constraint between two components of the active component.
 Fix Component – Fix the component position in the active component.
FUTURE SCOPE OF CATIA

 CATIA is also commonly called to as a 3D Product Lifecycle

Management software package. It has a lot of scope in numerous
industries around the globe. It helps in the process of product
development. This process includes development, concept making,
designing, engineering, and manufacturing. It is used in mechanical
engineering, system engineering, electrical systems & fluid systems.
 CATIA. Computer Aided 3D Interactive application is an essential PLM
Tool and has captured the design segment in its absolute sense. This
particular dassault product has unmatched surfacing tool and is one
of the best Parametric design tool. The present design era strongly
recommends CATIA to be implemented due to its wonderful features.
ADVANTAGES OF CATIA

 The main benefits of CATIA are its disciplined system, sketching and rendering
technology, engineering insights, multi-platform development, market compliance,
and active collaboration.
 The ability to manage multi-part geometries better than standard composite design
solutions
 It saves time and money. The software has built-in modification management abilities
that help in automatic updates. This technique reduces the effect of changes in the
manufacturing process.
 Through these automatic updates in the initial phase, the user saves his time as well
as money without the need to restart the whole process from the beginning.
 Predict the behavior of parts with complex surfaces and allowing modifications where
needed.
PICTURE DESCRIPTION

 Press tools are commonly used in hydraulic, pneumatic, and

mechanical presses to produce the sheet metal components in
large volumes.
 Generally press tools are categorized by the types of operation
performed using the tool, such as blanking, piercing, bending,
forming, forging, trimming etc.
 The press tool will also be specified as a blanking tool, piercing
tool, bending tool etc.
TYPES OF PRESS TOOLS

 BENDING TOOL  SHAVING TOOL

 FORMING TOOL  TRIMMING TOOL

 DRAWING TOOL  PARTING OFF TOOL

 PROGRESSIVE TOOL  CUT OFF TOOL

 COMPOUND TOOL  PIERCING TOOL

 COMBINATION TOOL  BLANKING TOOL

CONCLUSION

 Concluding, CATIA’s power is in dealing with large equipment and

assemblies and its interface helps in the creation of complex
parametric models.

 It’s surface modeling's tools are an add on to its features. It is a

strong modeling tool and very well suited for freshers.

 It is the best in class software for expert users as well.
