STORYBOARD'S & DRAFT
PRODUCTION SCHEDULES

Storyboards help the production team mix different elements of the film such
as the graphics, animation or content they made need to use for when they
start filming and then later on when they edit the film together.

Storyboards are often created after the script is created and possibly after a
table read is done and this is so that the storyboard creator can understand the
technical aspects of the film such as shot types and that it is also important
that they know what characters are in each scene and are first created very
simply and eventually more detail is added as the pre production process is

Another reason why storyboards are important is the fact that they can create
multiple storyboards with different story ideas and from these the director and
production team will select which is of most interest and in this case would be
easily understood by and audience member that had not seen the original
Jurassic Park series.

As well as this they allow for a preview of the different shot types that are going
to be used in the film to see if they work well together and that they flow to
create aesthetically pleasing content, but also it allows for the director and
other members of the production team to see a basic version of the film and
what it will look like in addition to the technical aspects of each scene.

The draft production schedule communicates the purpose of the project to

everyone involved and ensures they all know what is going on and when
specific things are happening on set so that the production and continuity of the
film go well and that it can completed.
RISK ASSESSMENTS
Risk Assessments are important to pre
production as they spot hazards that may
occur on set and then spot if those hazards put
the actors and actresses in harms way and
identify if they are at risk and protect them by
minimizing the risk the hazard is to the cats
and crew members.

Another reason why risk assessments are used

is that they review the existing controls form
previous risk assessments and make the
necessary improvements to improve overall
safety and ensure that they comply with law of
each country they film in.

An example of an actual risk that may affect

the actors and actresses is through the stunts
that are featured in the film and for this the
production team would hire specifically trained
stunt men and women to take the place of the
actors and actresses so that they are not hurt
during the stunt and would hire multiple so that
the filming wont stop due to injury.
MEETINGS
Meetings are important during pre production
of a film as the crew members can start the
process of transforming the idea of Jurassic
World into a blockbuster film and these
meetings can take place during the different
stage of pre production such as setting their
$150,000,000 budget for the film and also
they are important to create contingency
plans in case for any problem they may have
when filming.

Another reason for meetings being important

is the fact that it allows the production team
to meet with any of the filming locations and
allows them to get the necessary permits they
may need to film in specific locations.
SCRIPTS
Scripts are important to pre-
production as it is the technical
instructions for what is meant to be
taking place on screen and can
include additional information to the
dialogue such as stage directions
and as well as this it builds a story
structure so that the pre-production
team understand the story of the
film that they are planning to film.

Scripts are also important for the

treatment of the film as it is a
written description of the film and
the script is needed to make sure
that the treatment is detailed and
understood by the pre-production
team.
LOCATION REECES
Location Reeces are important to pre-production as they allow for
preliminary scouting of the different filming locations to ensure that
they are overall safe for filming and to note down any potential
hazards that may occur when filming in each location and can help you
with information when planning a filming schedule.

It is also important when filming in multiple countries that the pre

production team understands their laws and regulations as when
transporting the equipment they will need to look into how they aim to
transport it to each country and because of this some supplies such as
medical supplies can sometimes not be flown across between
country's so they may need to be transported in advance so that they
arrive on time for the films production.

When scouting a possible location to film the person must consider the
following:

• Is the location Quiet enough for a talking heads interview?

• Is there a source to charge batteries, set up lighting and is there the
correct voltage for these things?
• Is there access for vehicles & kit?
• Do you need to bring a camera to create test footage?
• Heath & Safety Considerations (Risk Assessment)
• Visualise the different shots that will take place
• Consider sound
EQUIPMENT LISTS
Equipment lists are important to pre
production as they allow the
production team to research
,compare and source the equipment
they are planning to use and make
sure it is high quality and that it is in
working order before they start
filming.

As well as this another reason for

equipment lists being important to
pre production is that it allows for
the team to look into what
equipment they already have and
ensures that they do not overspend
on unnecessary equipment if they
already have it and have it cut into
their budget.
CASTING
Casting is important to the pre-production process of a
film as the producers invite actors and actresses in for
auditions in front of a casting panel and this helps the
producers of the film find the best actors and actresses
that fit the description of the character in their
personality, believability, likeability and overall talent
as an actor/actress.

Another reason why casting is so important is that if the

casting panel mist-cast a role this can affect the overall
success of the film.

As well as this another reason why casting is that if

actors hired are popular and have been in successful
films or television programmes SUCH AS Chris Pratt
who had featured in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) as
well as Parks & Recreation (2009-2015) and because
these were both popular then this may bring in a
presale audience due to the fact that they enjoy
watching films and tv programmes with him and as
well as this he costs $8 million-$10 million and this
shows that he is a popular and in demand actor due to
how much he gets paid per film or tv programme
