• Narrative text is a kind of text to retell the story that past tense.

• Purpose of narrative story : the purpose of the text is to entertain or amuse readers or listeners
about the strory

• Generic structure : orientation, complication, re-orientation

• Forms of narrative text :

1. Legend : sangkuriang, malin kundang, tangkuban perahu
2. Fable : mousedeer and crocodile, the ants and the grasshopper, the smartest parrot
3. Fairy tale : cinderella, snow white, pinocchio, beauty and the beast

Text -
• Descriptive text is a kind of the text with a purpose to
give information
• Generic structure: Identification, description
• Purpose:
– To describe person, thing or place in specific
– To describe a particular person, thing or place.
• Grammatical feature: Focus on specific participant,
adjective, the use of simple present tense
 - News Item Text -
• news item text is a text which informs
readers about events of the day
• Communicative purpose : to inform readers
about the important event of the day
• Generic structure : newsworthy event,
background event, souce
 - Description Text -
• description text is text that contain of identification and description
• communcative purpose : to describe a particular placee, things, or
person
• Generic Structure:
1. Identification; identifying the phenomenon to be described.
2. Description; describing the phenomenon in parts, qualities, or/and
characteristics.
• Example :
My Cat
I have a pet, its name is Lucca.
It always sleep on my bedroom with me and often scratch my bedcover.
It eats animal food and does not like fish. Lucca is my beautiful pet.

• Purpose:
To present different opinions on
a particular issue or topic

• Spoof is a text which tells factual story, happened in the past time
with unpredictable and funny ending.

written text that is intended to explain the
listeners or readers that something should or

• A short and interesting story or an amusing event often proposed to
