Resistance Grounded System
Advantages
– Easy to locate ground fault
– Sufficient current for current sensing ground-fault protection
– Eliminate transient overvoltages
– Limit fault current
– Minimize fault energy and damage
– Eliminate the risk of arc flash on first fault
Disadvantages
– Cost of grounding resistor
– False sense of confidence – dependence on NGR

SE-330 vs. SE-325
The SE-330 provides new features and improved performance over the SE-325
NGR Monitor:
– Increased DC rejection
Reliable in overhead line applications
– Digital filtering
Minimizes nuisance trips due to harmonics
– Calibrated NGR resistance measurement
Achieves a lower trip resistance
– Separate ground-fault and resistor-fault indication relays
Used for indication and control
Able to trip on neutral voltage after the resistor fails open (alarm only resistor-fault
applications)
– Optional network communications
Provides information to a distributed control system
– Data logging
Up to 100 events in memory or more using microSD card
– Pulsing contacts aid in locating ground faults
Low and medium voltage alarm-only systems
– Higher voltage and NGR let-through current compatibility
SE-330 extends voltage range up to 72-kV
Works with most CTs to increase ground-fault current detection range
