At the age of 17,he worked for A.Besse&co.ltd.

In the year 1958 he started his first company,

Reliance commercial corporation.

In the year 1966, he started the textile mill in

Naroda, Ahmedabad.

In the year 1975, World Bank certified that the

Reliance textile plant was "excellent by developed
country standards."
In the year 1977, the company went public.

 Educational Initiatives:
• The DAF started DA-IICT at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
• Flagged off in Aug 2001-246 students-all India
entrance exam-4yr under graduate program in
information&communication technology.
• Post graduate programs were added from the
academic year 2002-2003 onwards.
• New facilities-additional floors for teaching,research
laboratories, lecture theatres , sports complex, hostel
accommodation for students.
  Healthcare Initiatives

• The DAF has joined the management of Sir Hurkisondas

Nurottumdas Hospital and Research Centre (HNH&RC)
and Sir Hurkisondas Nurottumdas Medical Research
Society(HNMRS),based in Mumbai.
• Over the next few years, DAF plans to make substantial
contributions for converting this hospital into a patient-
focused and not-for-profit, world class, state-of-the-art
centre of excellence in the field of healthcare.
• Tertiary level healthcare facilities-super-specialties like
cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology etc;
• It has on board 200 consultants across various
specialisations.
Community Development
• Reliance runs its own schools at its
manufacturing sites.
• Reliance, in association with the Municipal
Corporation, launched the Secondary
Schools Computerisation Project-51
municipal schools of Mumbai-68000
students.
• Jamnagar town faces acute drinking
water shortages. Reliance supplies
drinking water from its state-of-the-art
seawater desalination plant during
summer periods of shortages.
• A platform to display the art and craft
produced by underprivileged children
from Aseema.

• Reliance was founded as a textile mill in 1966 by
Dhirubhai H. Ambani.

up at the Narsinatha street in Masjid Bunder.
