Outline of the Case Study
• Tata Steel has undertaken CSR initiatives that are unparalleled in its sector
• The company introduced various labor welfare schemes like Free Medical
Aid, Worker’s Provident Fund Scheme and also social schemes like
educational and Medical services
• In order to make it an investor attractive area of business, Tata Steel launched
“Vision 2007” the main focus of which was to be an EVA+ company while
continuing to contribute towards the CSR activities at the current rate
• However, an imbalance between the CSR activities and the new mission of
the company has been identified as a problem statement
• This threatens TATA’s image of community centric CSR sponsor.
