SITE MAP LAYOUT AND PLAN • A FREE FLOWING INFORMAL PATTERN THAT HAS ORGANICALLY GROWN WITH THE NEED OF THE INSTITUTION • THE CLASSROOMS,THE AUDITORIUM AND THE PRAYER HALL ARE SPREAD IN THE CENTRAL PART OFTHE CAMPUS,WHILE THE ADMINISTRATIVE PART,HOTELS,STAFF QUARTERS,DINING HALL AND SCHOOLS COVERED THE OUTER REGION. CLASS ROOM • All classrooms in the campus are single roomed open cottage with individual plinth , sloping roof and small veranda • They are roughly of two sizes (8m x 4.5m and 10m x 7.5m). • The bigger one is usually used for dance. • The quality of accoustical privacy doesn’t come in here because the huts are placed at a good distance to each other,so they don’t carry the sounds to the next class room • Even the little sound that might travel are taken care of by the trees around. • All class room have full length bamboo jaali work which provide sufficient lighting and cross ventilation • All huts have red oxide flooring PRAYER HALL • It is situated seperately, further beyond the classroom in complete quite. • It accomodates 180 people. • It is also used open class room for craft. AUDITORIA(RUKMINI ARANGAM) • Originally build as an open air theatre designed by architect Peterson ,it served as an assembly hall and performance stage for many years until it was destroyed during a cyclone • Architect Lurie baker Designed a proper theatre after cyclone • Measuring 70’ x 80’, the open air space can accomodate 300-350 audience. • Dressing room are available on either side of the stage. • Each measuring 10’ x 12’. BHARATA KALAKSHETRA AUDITORIUM • Measuring 40’x40’ the auditorium can seat 750-800 • There are 428 chairs on the peripheral veranda and 104 in galleries in the balcony . • Dressing room are available for the artists, on the ground floor . • These auditorium is equipped with state of the art lighting system . AUDITORIUM (RUKMINI ARANGAM) • The stage is made up of black oxide which is suitable for effective lighting. • The theatre is equipped with lighting and sound system. MUSIC • The small man made among the class room with stone mandapas make the ambience very surreal • All in all,a gurukul like atmosphere prevails which create a perfect state of mind for music learning
