Small business as a seed bed of
entrepreneurship. Seed bed refers to
preparing of soil for sowing of seeds so
that we may have good crop. Small
business is regarded as a seed bed of
entrepreneurship, as it provides
conducive conditions for the emergence
and growth of entrepreneurs, as these
can be started with less investment &
use local resources to mainly catter the
local demand.
Small Scale Industries
According to fiscal
commission – 1950: “A
unit operating with hired
labor, usually 10 to 50
hands”.
According to SSI board
-1955: “A unit employing
less than 50 persons if
power and less than 100
persons without the use
of power and with the
capital investment of
rupees 5 lakh”.

Prepare a business plan.
Selection of product.
Location of an enterprise.
Arrangement of finance.
Provisional registration.
Installation of plant and machinery.
Permanent registration.
Profit generation.

industries. This sector has 8 sub groups which are

of backward areas of country.
