BACKGROUND OF THE
STUDY
– The Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) curriculum is a special
science-based section mainly focusing on the academic field of Science, Math,
English, and other academic add-ons for Junior High School from Grade 7 to
Grade 10. The core subjects offered in the Secondary Education Curriculum
(SEC) and under the K to 12 BEC were enhanced by additional subjects
identified in the Revised Curriculum of the Engineering and Science Education
Program (ESEP) of the S & T-Oriented High Schools. The subject offerings, time
allotment and unit credits stipulated in DepED Order No. 41, S. 2004 and
DepED Order no. 31, S. 2012 were strictly implemented.
BACKGROUND OF THE
STUDY
– In many schools offering the Program, add-on subjects in Science and
Mathematics were offered on top of the requirements of the core
curriculum and the special curricular program in science and technology.
– The exam will evaluate the knowledge in three major subjects; Science,
Mathematics and English and the interview for verbal efficiency or
literacy. The aptitude test determines the top 40 students who are
officially enrolled in the Science, Technology and Engineering (STE)
Curriculum.

– Nowadays, students are familiar with the use of computers and gadgets. Computers
are various ways such as encoding and etc. Technology has aided people with the
workload using computers and gadgets. People have adapted the use of technology
particularly by students and teachers.
– The computerized aptitude examination test is easy-to-use for the STE examinees
whom are computer oriented. The computerized aptitude test is an initial step to
assist the STE Curriculum to adapt to technology. This computerized examination test
will be an advantage for STE students and teachers. Using a computer hands down in
checking the results of the examination and for the computer program to
automatically compute the examination scores of the qualifiers.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives that the study “School-Based Aptitude Test for Qualifying
Students in the Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) Curriculum in
Catarman National High School” wants to fulfill are;
