Grammar Direct object placement with phrasal verbs

Phrasal verbs contain a verb and a particle that together have

their own meaning.

Many phrasal verbs are separable. This means that a direct
object noun can come before or after the particle.
I drop off the car. OR I’ll drop the car off.

If the direct object is a pronoun, it must come before the

particle.
I drop it off. (NOT I’ll drop off it.)
Did you fill them up? (NOT Did you fill up them?
Where will they pick us up? (NOT Where will they pick up us?
