The addition of 40 mM NaCl to the growth medium decreased frond counts and increased yellow fronds compared to the control group for several Lemna minor clones over 14 days. Growth curves showed diminished frond growth with NaCl for clones LM.00027, LM.00132, and LM.00191, but increased growth for clone LM.00142, with exponential trendlines strongly correlated to the data in all cases. A bar graph summarized the final frond counts, which were lower with NaCl for the first three clones but higher for the fourth clone.

Figure 1. 40mM NaCl was added to the Appenroth Media for the following Lemna minor clones: A. LM.00027, B. LM.00132, C. LM.00142, D. LM.00191. The images displayed were taken after 14 days. N=2 samples were analyzed. The growth of fronds after 14 days is diminished by the addition of 40mM NaCl as compared to the control condition. N=2 samples were analyzed. Average Number of Fronds

Figure 1. The graphs for LM.00027, LM.00132, and LM.00191 indicate
that Lemna minor clones experience less growth when 40mM NaCl is added. LM.00142 demonstrates the opposite conclusion. The exponential trendlines show very strong correlations (all r2 > 0.950).
