NUMERICAL PROBLEM

TWO WAY
CLASSIFICATION
Four different machines are considered in the assembly of
particular product it is decided that different operators are
handling the equipment. The operators of the machine need certain
amount of physical training and it is known that there is some
difference among the operators with the speed they operate the
system.
i) Test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance, machine
performed at same rate of speed.
ii) Test the hypothesis that the operators performed at the same
rate of speed
Step 1:-
General expression

Assembly Line = f(operator,machines)

yij     ij   ij   ij
Where,
yij= Response at ith level of factor A
µ= Grand mean
αij= Differential effect of ith level of factor A on response
βij= Differential effect of jth level of factor B on response
εij= Error i) Independent
ii) Normal distribution
iii) Random
Step 2:-
Test of significance

• Null Hypothesis
There is no variation present among the factors,
i.e. operator and machines.
 i  0;  j  0
• Alternate Hypothesis
There is variation present among the factors, i.e.
operator and machines.
 i  0;  j  0
Step 3:-
Level of significance = 0.05

Alternate hypothesis is selected for operators. All the
operators are not equally competent.
No variation in the performance of machines. Null
hypothesis can be selected
