WANT TO WIN MORE GAMES THIS
SEASON?  
Force more turnovers than your opponent and take care
of the football when you have it.

You always hear the sound bite when coaches are being
interviewed about upcoming games “We got to win the
turnover battle”.

This makes sense as we want the ball in our offenses’

hands more than our opponent’s hands. We want more
opportunities to score and put points on the scoreboard
than our opponent.
STATISTICS WITH SUPPORTING EVIDENCE:
From 2012 – 2018 there was a study that found
that among the 53 FBS teams that forced an
average turnover margin of greater than 1 per
game .. 52 of them had winning records.
From this Study:
98.11%  Winning Season
94.36%  Won at least 8 games
75.47% Won at least 9 games
60.38%  Won at least 10 games
54.1%  Won at least a share of a
conference or division championship

3 of the 4 teams were in the top 40 of Turnover Margin

HOW CAN WE CREATE MORE
TURNOVERS ON DEFENSE?
*Get pressure on the Quarterback and make him
uncomfortable. We will do this by being aggressive with stunts,
games and blitzes.

*Strip attempts at every chance we get when making tackles.

*We must win the 50/50 balls. Meaning any fumble on the
ground or any pass that’s up for grabs, we MUST win that
possession and secure the football.
HOW WE WILL PLAY DEFENSE AFTER A SUDDEN
CHANGE:
#1) We will need to know the personality of
the offense we are facing that week.
