● It is all about karampura area which is situated in moti nagar delhi
● It has been a rapid rise in development in over past 20 years.
● Most of its area is covered by swatantra bharat mills of DCM
textiles .
● Employees and workers who are expertise in milling sector are
residing there only .
● It also led to a rise in migrant population who wanted to find
work here and started residing here.
● DLF bought all of the land where the Swatantra Bharat Mills
previously resided

● DLF bought those lands for over 1600 crores INR.

● Area more shifted to a new identity.

● It is a prime piece of property which they subsequently

developed into a modern residential area which attracted a
new group of people from different area, leading to a fresh
influx in new migrant populations.
DIFFERENCE
● Residents of the DLF society are economically higher off with many of them
working in the private sector, and earning higher wages and having higher
expenditures all around. While residents of karampura are economically
lower than residents of DLF .
● Residents of DLF have been more vocal about problems in the area, from
traffic related issues to amenities not being provided.while residents of
karampura people have been having no complaints whatsoever about the
amenities provided, and they have not complained about any traffic issues
or other public matters.
● Residents of DLF society are busier doing work amongst themselves while
residents of kasampura more inclusive in its stance, with people
participating more in societal events and functions
PEST ANALYSIS

POLITICAL - Government did not take any steps towards this situation.

All the people who are working and residing over there were unemployed now.

ECONOMICAL - DLF residents are economically higher as compared to residents of

karampura.
SOCIAL - Karampura residents are socially active but on the other side DLF
residents are busier in there own work. They are more excluded from the
society, and have generally viewed that there’s not much of a social
camaraderie.

TECHNOLOGICAL- DLF residents are living in smart society but on the other
side karampura residents are living in normal conditions .
OBJECTIVES

● This research is a study of the migrant population in the area over

the years, especially in the pre and post DLF era, and have a more
inquisitive look into their job opportunities in this place.
● There is a rich history in this area and there are various
communities residing here, with the disparities between the
localities of the erstwhile population and the new DLF residents.
HYPOTHESIS

● By doing further research upon these fairly new settlers, we can get
a very different perspective on what factors led to their settling here
and what were the main factors behind them.
RESEARCH DESIGN

● We intend to do a field survey of around 10-15 households in the DLF housing area,
making sure to get a varied viewpoint by questioning people from different places,
different employment sectors and/or different age groups. As the whole area has been
here for just a decade, We believe there can be a very varied perspective from every
household We conduct a survey in. We intend to use a basic questionnaire with a
limited number of questions to get a baseline figure and then use a specialized second
questionnaire which will hold questions specific to the queries We would like to ask.
OUR FINDINGS
● It is not easy for everyone to settle at a new place .
● There is huge differences in cultures of karampura and DLF society.
● The expenditure of DLF residents are high as compared to karampura
residents.
● Most of the settlers in Karampura Industrial area are now into their
second generations, whereas settlers of DLF are mainly first
generation settlers and the age demographic is younger generally.
RESULTS
● Residents have been staying upwards of 15 years at least in the Karampura area, but
most of the inhabitants of the DLF capital greens society has been staying here for
only 5-6 years, a given due to the fairly new construction of the place.
● The fact that these migrants are employed by people in this area by someone with
whom they already had erstwhile relations with, usually people from the same
hometown tend to employed.
● Most of the settlers in the DLF area are migrants more or less, with even some of them
who have been settled in Delhi erstwhile has migrated and come to settle here.
● A fact that has been interesting is, most of the settlers in Karampura Industrial area are
now into their second generations, whereas settlers of DLF are mainly first generation
settlers and the age demographic is younger generally.
