Introduction about Titan
• Titan industries limited is the world’s fifth largest wrist watch manufacturer and
India’s leading producer of watches under the Titan, Fastrack, Sonata, Nebula,
Raga, Regalia, Octane and Xylys brand names.
• Titan industries was established in 1984 as a joint venture between the TATA
group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation(TIDCO).
• Founder of Titan is Xerxes Desai.
• The CEO of Titan is Bhaskar Bhatt.
• Its product portfolio includes watches, accessories, jewellery, perfumes and
eyewear.
• The company set up its corporate office in Bengaluru(Karnataka) and its watch
manufacturing facility in Hosur(Tamil Nadu).
• Titan is one of the India’s leading watch brands that brought about a paradigm
shift in the Indian watch market, offering quartz technology with international
styling.
Titan Watch Division

• Titan watch division was started in 1987.


• At launch it was the third watch company in India after HMT and Allwyn.
• Titan formed a joint venture with Timex, which lasted until 1998, and set up a
distribution network across India.
• Titan industries has claimed to have manufactured the world’s slimmest wrist watch
branded as Titan Edge. Produced indigenously after 4 years of research and
development, Titan Edge has a total thickness of 3.5mm and a movement of
1.15mm.
• Titan Flagship store is located at opposite Shoppers stop, Bandra, Linking road,
Mumbai, India. The store was spread over 2500sq ft and houses more than 1500
watches on display from Titan like Purple, Automatics, Orion, Raga, Edge, Nebula,
and many more.
Company history
• 1984- Titan Company Limited was inaugurated on 26th July, 1984 under
the name Titan Watches Limited in Chennai.
• 1986- An MOU was signed with Casio computer company of Japan to
manufacture 2 million digital and analog-digital watches.
• 1989- a satellite case plant was set up in Dehradun, Uttar
Pradesh, Uttarakhand at present with a manufacturing capacity of
500,000 watch cases annually.
• 1992- Over 150 models were introduced.
• 1993- The name of the company was changed with effect from 21st sept
from Titan Watches to Titan Industries Ltd.
• 1994- Titan launched its jewellery brand Tanishq.
• 1998- the company launched its watch & accessories brand, Fastrack,
targeted at a younger audience in a bid to compete with Timex.
• 2001- Titan launched kids’ watches brand, Dash. The brand saw poor performance
and was discontinued in 2003.
• 2005-  Fastrack was positioned as an independent accessory brand targeting the
urban youth. With the objective to become a fashion brand, Fastrack
launched sunglasses in the same year and launched bags, belts and wallets in 2009.
• 2013- Titan entered the fragrances segment with the brand Skinn. In the same year,
it changed its name to Titan Company Ltd.
• 2016- The brand Taneira was launched. It is an ethnic wear brand that retails hand-
woven sarees from different weaving clusters of India.
In the same year,  Titan entered the wearable devices market by introducing
its smartwatch, Juxt, made through a collaboration with Hewlett Packard.
• 2017- The company launched a fitness tracker, named Gesture Band under its
youth accessories brand, Fastrack.
• 2018-Titan merged its jewellery brand, Gold Plus targeted at customers in South
India with Tanishq to establish the brand's presence in South.
