Summary of Research Proposal

• Utilization of Rice Husk Ash & Wheat Straw Ash as partial

replacement of cement
• Agricultural raw material like wheat straw ash (WSA), wheat
husk ash (WHA) and Rice husk ash (RHA) are rich in
compounds like Ca0, Si02 , Fe2O3 etc.,
• which give filler and binding effect when mixed with ordinary
Portland cement.
Raw Material and composition

Rice Husk Ash (RHA)

• Global annual production of rice is approximately
649.7 million ton.
• 20% of that is husk.
• Approximately 85-90% of rice husk ash contains
amorphous silica.
Raw Material and composition

Wheat Straw Ash (WSA)

• Similarly, wheat is the primary source of food for about 2.5
billion people.
• The global wheat production is about 705 million tons.
• The average yield for wheat straw is about 1.3-1.4 kg per kg of
grain & 534 million tons of wheat straw is produced annually
• Only Pakistan produces about 18.46 million tons of straw
Material Preparation

• Wheat straw and rice husk are produced by pyrolysis.

• Wheat straw and rice husk are burnt separately in a furnace at temperature of about
500°C-600℃ .
• This raw material will be used as partial replacement of cement.
