Our Services

The interpreting and Translating Service


NT (ITSNT) works with government and
non-government agencies to help them
communicate effectively with clients who
speak other than English.
We also assist business an individuals who
operate in or deal withbilingual settings
requiring interpreting and translation
services.
Our Services Include:
 On-site (face-to-face) interpreting.
 Interpreting and translating in migrant and refugee languages.
 Legal/court interpreting for legal services.
 Medical interpreting for health related services.
 Interpreting at meetings and events including trade and delegation
visits.
 Translation of documents including corporate publications, product
labels, tehnical papers, legal document such as contracts and
agreements, formal documents such as certificate.
 Workshops on cross-cultural awareness and on working effectively
with interpreters and traslators.
 Providing adice on the preparation of text for translation into
foreign languages.
 Assisting in arranging Australian Sign Language (AUSLAN)
Our Translators
A translators primarily converts written material
from one language to another.
Our professional translators can ensure that texts
are communicated accurately, using an appropriate
and consistent style and terminology. Importantly,
they can tailor the original text to your target
audience if requested, and make allowances for
cultural and linguistic diffrences.
Our translators are trained professionals who are
bound by a strict code of ethics and have
completed training and assessment to certify that
they have a level of linguistic competence.
Our Interpreters
Our customers include goverment agencies and services,
major hospitals in the Northern Territory, many courts and
tribunals, solicitors, businesses across many domains and
government and non-government, agencies, as well as
individuals seeking a personalised, ethical and professional
language service.
An interpreter is a trained professional whose role is to
facilitate communication between people who do not share
the same language. The task of inter[reting is extremely
complex and requires the interpreter to simultaneously
deconstruct and reconstruct teh linguistic elements of two
languages.
Part of the interpreter’s role is to ensure that they are as
unobtrusive as possible within an assignment.
Our interpreters are highly skiled and trained
professional and have either a professional or
paraprofessional level of Acreditatio Autority
for Translaord and Interpreters (NAATI).
Translator is d life long learning process where
even booking may present new and diverse
ghallenges for an interpreter, both inthe
terminologio aspect as well as other tehnical
and ethical aspects.
Our interpreters work within the boundaries of
a srict Code of Ethics ensuring confidentiality,
impartiality, an professional conduct.

We have an on going training progran in place for new
and exiting interpreters and translators.
Service Fees
Translation charges will vary depending on total
word count and complexity. Interpreting charges are
based on the number of hours worked.

The Australian and Northern Terririty Government
both offer various interpreting and translating
services free of charge. The Interpreting and
Translating Service NT can tell you, or assist you in
finding out if you are eligible to receive services free

Interpreters – we are recommend that
wherever at least one week noticeis given for
any interpreting assignment.
Translations – allow up to two weeks for
completion. Complex or larger translations may
require a longer time to complete.
Quick checklist
When to use an interpreter?
You should use an interpreter when your client:
 Shows no understanding of English or is able
to communicate in English but in limited
capacity.
 Is able to communicate in Englush but is
more comfortable with their own language.
 Is under stress which may affect their ability
to communicate in English.
