GCET Introduction
• Gujarat Common Entrance Test
• Conducted by Gujarat Technological University
• Gateway to all University affiliated MBA &
MCA programs in Gujarat.
• First conducted in 2002. Online format from
2009.
• “Best of two attempts” introduced in 2010.
Test Pattern
• GCET 2010 (MBA)
– Section I : QA (30) + LR (30) + English (20) : 80
questions in 64 minutes.
– Section II : 20 GK questions in 16 minutes.
• GCET 2010 (MBA + MCA)
– Additional section III : QA (10) + LR (10) : 20
questions in 16 minutes.
• GCET 2009
– No separate sections : 150 questions in 120
minutes.
Important Information
• Eligibility : Any graduate or final year student
can take GCET, subject to minimum 50%
aggregate marks.
• Scoring : Correct answer : 4 marks, incorrect
attempt : -1 mark.
• Time line : In the last two years – 2009 & 2010
GCET was held in July. This year, GCET is
expected to be held in February 2011.

• 75% of seats are filled by GTU on a merit basis
and 25% are filled via management quota.
• No. of seats has tripled in last three years.
• Around 3000 seats were vacant in 2010.
