Chapter 1
Introduction

This work is basically about some tourist places in our hometown,
Dolega. Places like the plaza and the church have remarked the story
of our town and we pretend to stand them out.

Our objective is mainly to search and offer information about relevant
sites in the town and its respective background and we consider
important to high light as tourist places.
As the main tool to gather information, we have used the internet,
however, we also have interviewed certain people to widen the whole
information.

As a result, we offer the reader a set of relevant information, tips and
illustrations as a supportive tool or reference.

Content

Dolega is small town with kind and polite people. The

name “Dolega” is a “dorasque lang” that means “the
pleace of the hummingbird”. According to some
references, it was founded by fray Antonio de la
Rocha in 1635; however, there are some other
evidences that points to 1671 by Mr. Gomez Suarez
de Figueroa. The 4 th of October is the holiday when
they honor St. Francis of Asis.
Our community includes different tourist places and one
we want to highlight is “La Iglesia San Francisco de
Asis” a place with a plenty and magnificent story, the
famous “Campanas Coloniales” which were brought by
the group of Franciscan Priests around the 18 th Centrury.
They are famous because of their story. Very linked with
“La Iglesia” is “La Plaza” or “The Central Square” a
place where the community has celebrated Festivals and
holidays in honor the Saint Francis. They has moved the
church from the South-East part of the square to the
North-centered, place where it is still located. In this
square even rest in peace the first settlers of this town.
Do not forget that at the very beginnings of our first
towns, the cementeries were at one side of the churches.
Dos Rios, one of our counties, is another place to stand
out. This is one of the oldest communities in our
hometown. Famous because of the holidays and
celebrations as such “Festival de Antaño” celebrated for
33 years and supported by a permanent museum opened 5
years ago and in charge of the Gutierrez Family. We find a
set of valuable antiques that reveals evidences of our
ancestors.

That is why Dolega is magic…a magic place to visit.

Conclusion and Recommendations

As a conclusion, we can say that this Project motivated us

to search much more about our roots and to handle
specific information about our hometown. We discover
that many of the places that we know as simple places,
they are really tourist attractions that we ignored.
Through the development of this Project, we practiced the
cooperative and learning in which, everyone gave the
points of view, interacted and exchanged ideas. We really
did our best.
