What is ARS?

 ARS stands for Audience Response Systems.


 The ARS is a technology that allows individuals or groups to
respond to a question or to vote in a poll.
 Each individual has something most people refer to as a “clicker”
and use it to respond or vote.
 It can also be done through the use of programs.
 One of the most well-known programs that utilizes ARS is Kahoot.
Through Kahoot students can use their own mobile devices to
create a username and answer questions through their phone.
How It Is Used In the Classroom

 ARS can be done in groups or individually.


 ARS is used in classrooms to do polls or questionnaires.
 Students receive instant feedback from their answers and can
see how the classroom did as a whole.
 Teachers used the feedback to find out who may be struggling on
a certain topic.
 Teachers can review a lesson through the use of ARS to gauge if
the classroom is grasping the lesson!
Pros of ARS

 ARS encourages participation from every student.


 Meaningful and quick feedback is given to students
 Teachers can use ARS to gauge which students are caught up
and which ones may need more help.
 In this nursing education study, most people found it to be
positive experience.
 Can be done anonymously to avoid having people find out if
you’re answering questions wrong.
 Behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement.
Cons of ARS

 It may affect the amount of classroom interaction.


 Students may be afraid to answers questions wrongly, especially
if they are the only one to get the question wrong.
 Some ARS can be expensive. If it is not done through a free
service like Kahoot.
 Less verbal communication involved
