 PASSIVE VOICE

◦We use passive voice to emphasize in the action

instead of the subject as we used to do it in Active
voice. It works with all of the tenses.
 PASSIVE VOICE STRUCTURE

◦ Using passive voice we always have to write the

verb to be (depending of the sentences tense) and a
past participle verb.
 PASSIVE VOICE SIMPLE
PRESENT
◦ Examples:
◦Active voice: Jhon washes the car.
◦Jhon lava el auto

◦Passive voice: The car is washed by Jhon.

◦El auto es lavado por jhon
Note: We take all that is after the main verb to start the
passive voice.

PRESENT
◦El tiempo en el que tiene que ir conjugado el verbo to be va
depender de el tiempo en el que se encuentre la voz activa.
◦Example:
◦A.V: Sonia writes a letter. P. V: A letter is written by
sonia.
◦Verbos en presente los verbos en participio
◦Note que el verbo Write se encuentra en presente, por lo tal
el verbo to be va a ir en presente.

◦NOTE: USING S.PAST THE VERB TO BE GOES IN WAS – WERE FORM
◦EXAMPLES:
◦A.V: James wrote that song P. V: That song was written by James
◦James escribió esa canción esa canción fue escrita por John
◦A. V: Gucci made those shoes P. V: Those shoes were made by Gucci
◦Gucci hizo esos zapatos esos zapatos fueron hechos porgucc
◦A. V: Hugo ate the cookies P. V: The cookies were eaten by hugo

◦In this tense we use the verb to be with ing (being).+ p p verb.= ando, endo
◦Examples: Being= siendo
◦My father is washing the car. P.V: The car is being washed by my father
◦Mi padre esta lavando el auto el auto esta siendo lavado por mi padre
◦I am writing a poem. P.V: A poem is being written by me
◦He is not wearing a tie P.V: A tie isn´t being worn by him.
◦El no lleva corbata la corbata no la lleva el
◦She is preparing a party P.V: A party is being prepared by her.

◦In this tense we use the verb to be in p.participle (been).+ p p verb.
◦Examples: been= estado, sido
◦Kerrie has paid the bill.  P.V: The bill has been paid by Kerrie
◦Karry a pagado la factura the bill has been paid by her
◦I have eaten a hamburger P.V: A hamburguer has been eaten by
me
He comido una hamburguesa la hamburguesa a sido comida por mi
◦I have opened the present. P.V: The present has been opened by me
◦They have not read the book. P.V: The book hasn´t been read by them
