The document describes the design and development of a battery-operated mechanical weeder. It aims to provide farmers an easy way to control unwanted crops while reducing labor requirements, time, and environmental degradation compared to traditional hand weeding methods. The design uses a battery-powered motor that drives connector arms in an arrangement to simulate digging motions and automate the weeding process. A bill of materials lists the components needed including an MS plate, bolts, screws, battery, motor, gears, shaft, and wheels. The mechanical weeder is intended to help farmers by reducing the manual labor of weeding.

Mr. SELVAMUTHUKUMARAN D BHARATH R(161ME120) ASSISTANT PROFESSOR VIJAY BABU J(161ME320) DEPT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING VIMAL K(161ME321) CONTENT AIM PROBLEM DESCRIPTION LITERATURE SURVEY DESIGN WORKING BILL OF MATERIALS AIM This Concept involved the development of mechanical weeder, after discovering that tools such as cutlass and hoes require high drudgery, time consuming and high labour requirement. As a solution to these problems, mechanical weeder was designed and developed Problem Description To provide best opportunity to farmers to easily control unwanted crops. To reduce the environmental degration and pollution. This device can be used to reduce the man power and reduce time consumption. Literature survey Presence of weeds in general reduces crop yield by 31.5 per cent (22.7 % in Rabi season and 36.5 per cent in Kharif and summer season). Yield losses due to weeds were about 65 per cent depending on the crop, degree of weed infestation, weed species and management practices. Presently available weeder mostly runs by tractor or power tiller, these are large in size, cannot work for low inter row spaced.India is second larger producer of rise. And it is essential to remove unwanted corps. It is a plant that completes with crop for water, nutrients and light. Weed takes 30 to 40 percent of applied nutrients resulting in yield reduction. More than 33 percent of the cost incurred in cultivation is diverted to weeding operations there by reducing the profit share of farmers. Design Working The traditional method of hand weeding is time consuming. In this Battery drive motorized weeder. we use motorized system, which is powered by battery. It consists of connector arms to stimulate digging motion in a particular arrangement to automate this task. This system is made up of high-power motor, couplings, connector arms, mounts and joints, screws, wheels and rods, battery, handles to hold the weeder. BILL OF MATERIALS Material Cost
