The Sentence

A sentence is a group of
words that makes a
complete sense. It begins
with a capital letter and
ends with a full stop(.) ,
question mark(?) or
exclamation mark(!) .
For example
Identify the correct and meaningful sentence:
Rewrite the following sentences in correct order
and punctuate the sentences:
1. father my bank at works a
Ans. M y father works at a bank .

2. are where going you


Ans. W here are you going ?
3. beautiful what a painting
Ans. W hat a beautiful painting !
Parts of Sentence
A complete sentence has two parts.

Parts of Sentence

Subject Predicate
Subject : The subject is what or whom
the sentence is about. The subject is the
person or thing in the sentence.

Example:
The dog is looking for something to eat.
Predicate : The predicate tells
something about the subject. It
has verb in it.
Example:
The dog is looking for something to eat.

Predicate
Circle the subject and underline the
predicate in the following sentences:

1. The monkey was sitting on the branch.

2. The lion chased and killed the bull.

3. I have made a cake.
