ROLE OF SCRIPTURES IN

UNDERSTANDING ETHICS

SCRIPTURES
 Scriptures are the holy writings of any
religion.
 Also called as Holy scriptures.

 They are often the writings of the Old


or new testaments or both together.
SCRIPTURES IN INDIA
 Some of the Scriptures are:
 Vedas,

 Upanishads,
 Puranas,

 Tevaram – Saivate hymns,


 Divya Prabandha Vaishnavite
 Veda- Knowledge, which is a collection
of hymns praising the Vedic Gods.
 Ramayana- Long epic poems about
Rama and Sita.
 Mahabharatha- Includes the Bhagavad
Gita.
 Puranas- Collection of stories about the
different incarnations and lives of
saints.
LORD KRISHNA AS ROLE MODEL
 “Long before Karl Marx, Lenin and Mao,
a historical figure in India fought
against oppression, championed the
cause of the poor, denounced religious
dogma and empty ritualism and sought
to inspire a righteous and selfless
attitude in Society” said Sri Sri
Ravishankar.
 Indicates that personal relationships should not
become or act as a hindrance when one is
engaged in righteous duty.
 He is called the first communist.

 Epitomised the art of Giving .

 Referred as Deenabandhu or Deenavatsala.

 “Thus, a manager should also be Karma yogi,


focussed on efficiency and apt decision making
without being stressed about the outcome”
says Professor Prasad Kaipa.
RAMAYANA IN ETHICS
 Ramayana is another greatest epic
which is also related to managerial
ethics.
 Lord Rama also gave importance his
people and not to personal
relationships.
 He also followed all the ethical
principles in governing his nation
BIBLE
 Christians should not only understand
what is good , but also what is bad.
 It’s possible to learn what pleases God.

 Our moral and ethical behavior


indicates whether or not we in fact
have a relationship to God.
 Our morality exposes our theology.
