The Future of Practice Action Plan

 This plan will included a slide for each month of the school year.
 Each month will be divided into three parts:
 Parents
 Students
 Community

 Activities for each group will be listed with anticipated results.

 September
Staff- Morning Activities
• Opening Day Breakfast/Box Lunch
• Staff Ice Breaker: All staff members will be
involved. The groups they will be assigned to
will be predetermined.
• Opening PD:
• Student Schedules

• Parent/Student Handbook
• Staff Handbook
• Superintendent Welcome Video
• Social Fund Welcome: Social fund will welcome
new staff members with a token gift. They will
review Social Fund Policy for the year. (Social
Fund will be providing a Box Lunch for all staff
member.
Staff- Afternoon Activities
• Staff will be given one hour for lunch
• They will need to complete some first day
forms and return before leaving.
• The remainder of the day will be free for staff
to work on classroom/first day prep.
Students
• Breakfast with Students: All staff
members will meet their classes in
the café or gym to have breakfast
with their students. Ancillary Staff
will meet students at the door
directing them to the correct
locations.
• Classroom ICE Breakers:
Students will report to their
homerooms to participate in a ICE
Breaker Activity with homeroom
class.
• Team Building Field Day: During
the month the PE Teachers will
hold a Team Building Field Day.
On their grade level assigned day,
students and all grade level
teachers will participate n activity.
• Club Day: Students will spend an
afternoon familiarizing themselves
with clubs and extracurricular
activities.
Community
* First Community Day: (no
students) Community members
will be invited to a Saturday
Community Day. On this day all
staff will be introduced,
schedules, policies and
procedures will be reviewed.
Parents will be provided with a
copy of the handbook. A school
tour will be given. Teachers will
be in classrooms to meet
parents.
Administrators will discuss thee
various opportunities for
community members to be
involved and encourage them to
volunteer.
* Parents will be given a hot lunch
prepared by the cafeteria staff
and donated by local businesses.
Teachers and staff will eat with
the family members.
* The date of Welcome Back
Night will be announced.
October
Staff:
Monthly Staff Meeting:
Communication logs will be distributed.
The format of logs will be introduced,
due dates, and purpose of logs will be
discussed. A teacher team will model
how to use logs. (Agendas will be
donated by local business that will be
used as logs.
Halloween Activity: All staff
members will participate in Halloween
Activity with Grade level they Service.
Welcome Back to School Night:
All staff members will meet with
parents to discuss student progress,
the focus will be on tips for being a
Master Student.

Students
Monthly Club Day: Held on the final
Friday Afternoon of the Month: all
students will participate in a club day
run by a staff member. Any discipline
issues will work with the Guidance and
Child Study Teams on Alternate
Behavior Strategies. Parents will assist
with clubs.
Halloween Activity: There will be a
Halloween Dance for grades 5-8.
Grades K-4 will participate in a
Halloween Parade and a Trunk and
Treat Activity run by Parent Committees
with donations from local businesses.
Community:
Monthly Parent Meetings: Various
parent organizations will meet and
plan their activities for the year.
(Focusing on Halloween Activities) At
the end of the meetings minutes and
tentative calendars will be submitted
to administration for approval.
Halloween Activities: Parents will
assisting running age appropriate
Halloween activities for students.
Welcome Back to School Night:
Parents and students will meet with
teachers to discuss student progress.

will be broken up into content level teams
to review curriculum and write PD Plans
for the year.
Harvest Activity: All staff
members will participate in Harvest
Festival Activity with their students.
(Activity will be determined by Parent
Organizations.
Family Literacy Workshop: The
Literacy Team will work with the Librarian
to run a Family Literacy Night. All grade
levels will participate and will review
materials covered for the year,
expectations, and study tips.

all students will participate in a club

conference night. Teachers will be given
time to finalize grades.
Winter Activity: All staff members will
participate in Winter Activity with their
students. The activity will be sponsored
by parents. It will include a winter
concert run by Music Teacher with the
Music Club.
Family Math Workshop: The Math
Team will work with the Librarian to run
a Family Literacy Night. All grade levels

lawyer and a member of the mayor’s
team will present.
Monthly Club Day: Last Friday of the
month club day. (see October)
Valentine’s Day Activity:
The parent groups will plan, sponsor
and run a grade appropriate Valentine’s
Day Activity. Staff will assist.
Students:

Over Lapping Plans
Plans for the Year:
• The website will be maintained and updated by a team of staff members. It will be updated bi-
weekly and will include all important information, dates and happenings.
• The Administration will send memos for any urgent events, happenings or dates.
• A team will distribute a school newsletter on every parent’s night for the community. It will be
approved before distributed.
• Parent Organizations will meet with the administrators and staff members to develop plans for
the month.
• When possible staff Pd’s will by various teacher teams- teachers will be separated by subject
areas.
• PBSIS will be run by the guidance and child study teams and they will meet with referred
students during monthly club days. The nurse and security will also be a part of the team.
• Office staff will be trained on how to make all visitors in the building welcomed.
• A visitor’s exist slip will be used for comments and suggestions. These will be reviewed by the
administrators and possible the SIP Team at the school.
