Definition :

A text that recounts an event or activity that happened

in the past that has been experienced before

Purpose :

To entertain or give information to the reader.

 Characteristics of Recount Text

1. Has a title that summarizes the text. For example 'My Vacation to Bali',
the story will only tell the whole vacation while in Bali

2. Tells events that have happened in the past. So the recount text always
uses past tense, for example 'Last month, I went to Bali with my family.

3. All events that are told must be in sequence. So, you have to use
conjunctions like 'when', 'later', 'then', 'after', 'before', etc.
Generic Structure

1. Orientation
The Orientation section is an introduction or introduction to the text to
be discussed. Because in this Orientation tells who is involved in the
story, what happened, where the event happened, and the time of the
event.

2. Events
The Event section is the core of the story. In this section we tell
everything that happened sequentially from start to finish

3. Re-orientation
Re-orientation section contains conclusions from the contents of the
story, or it can also be a personal opinion of the narrator. This re-
orientation can also be called the end or end of the story.
 Holiday in Santolo Beach

When Idul Fitri holiday, after visiting my parent at Pameungpeuk,

Garut, I and my family went to Santolo Beach to refresh our mind after
the long time of work. It's rarely to take a vacation because I'm very
busy.
The way to Santolo beach is quite good, and the view is really
beautiful. On our left and right is full of rice fields and many coconut
trees along the way. But when we nearly arrived, there was a long traffic
jam so we hardly to get in into the beach. I guess this was because of
the Idul Fitri holiday, so people want to go to beach too. Then we just
take a walk to the beach because it was not far. Fortunately the weather
was not too hot on that day.
 After we arrived, the beach was so crowded. But we still enjoyed the
time by took pictures, swimming, playing sand, and go around the beach
by boat. We stay overnight in the inn that we have rent before.
We got up so early in the morning that we could enjoy sunrise
landscape at the beach. My cousin playing with white sand and I took a
picture of him.
A day at Santolo beach felt so short, we were quite tired for playing a
whole day, but we were very happy.

Recount text is a type of text in English that tells a story,

action, or activity. Usually, the recount text tells about
someone's experience. The purpose of recount text is to
entertain the reader, so there is no conflict in this text. In
addition, this text also aims to provide information to the
reader.
