Scientific management

theory developed in in
1990 by Frederick Winslow
Taylor
explanation of the theory.

 This theory was developed due to need of efficiency by engineer Taylor.

Taylor believed that for there to be efficiency and productivity in industries
or business places by Actively gathering, analyzing, and converting
information to laws, rules, or even mathematical formulas for completing
tasks. Where the workers should be selected and given the work they best
feel fit and the one they will be most productive at.
 He believed that workers should apply the scientific proven ways to handle
their tasks
 Applying the work equally between workers and managers where
management applies scientific techniques to planning and the workers
perform the tasks pursuant to the plans.
principles for management:

 Actively gathering, analyzing, and converting information to laws, rules, or

even mathematical formulas for completing tasks.
 Utilizing a scientific approach in the selection and training of workers.
 Bringing together the science and the worker so that the workers apply the
scientifically developed techniques for the task.
 Applying the work equally between workers and managers where
management applies scientific techniques to planning and the workers
perform the tasks pursuant to the plans.
Explanation to the principles
a. Actively gathering, analyzing, and converting information to laws,
rules, or even mathematical formulas for completing tasks.

 Work should apply scientific research findings to better the efficiency and
productivity
b. Utilizing a scientific approach in the
selection and training of workers.
 Workers should satisfy set scientific qualification for them to be given a
certain job if productivity is to be expected
c. Bringing together the science and the worker so that the workers
apply the scientifically developed techniques for the task.

 Workers should be well conversant with scientific practices for them to

perform at maximum level which will guarantee high productivity.
d. Applying the work equally between workers and managers where management applies
scientific techniques to planning and the workers perform the tasks pursuant to the plans.

 A manager should be given a manageable number of workers so that

productivity is increased
A notable user of the theory

 Industries
 Hospitals
 Institutions
 Businesses
 Frederick Taylor's scientific management theory can be seen in nearly all
modern manufacturing firms and many other types of businesses.
Teachings from scientific management theory to
increase productivity in nursing

 The application of technology such as application of electronic health records

to manage the patient data and also to increase the productivity.
Teachings from scientific management
theory to managing staff in nursing

 The nurse manager should manage the right number of nurses to be able to
increase the efficiency of practice. The nurse manager should be in the front
line to emphasize the application of scientific pethood in delivering of quality
care.
Teachings from scientific management
theory to plan for the future in nursing

 The nurses should be updating their knowledge daily and be conversant with
technology to be able to change for the better future. Nursing should be the
leading to apply technology to better quality of the patient life.
Conclusion

 Scientific theory applies the scientific methods in enhancing productivity and

efficiency. Research should be continued to ensure that the work is made
even easier in future by applying the new technology and also coming up with
new inventions.
