INTRODUCTION
 Children violence is a complex problem
caused by the interaction of many
factors, among them are;
 Ineffective parenting
 Drug use
 Poverty
 Peer pressure
 Voilence in culture
 Since now days television has
become a important part in the
upbringing of children, they are easily
influenced by it. Media portrays
violence in various programs which
effect the children unconscious mind.
Statement of the problem
 Media exposes violence through which children
tend to become less sensitive to the pain and
suffering of others and become more fearful of the
world around them.
 Parents and adults who deal with children overlook
such factors and allow them to watch television
without supervision.
 The young mind of a child starts developing its
own perception of reality and starts adopting it in
his practical life also.

Open ended questions
 If children watch violence on television with
parents, how can the parent’s convey the right
message to their children?

 How do the dramatic events shown through

news affect your children?

 What can be done to avoid media violence?

 What shows would you encourage your

children to watch?
What did I found ?
 Frequent viewing of television violence leads to
the belief that such violence is an accurate
portrayal of real life, resulting in an exaggerated
fear of violence from others. Fear stemming from
watching scary media may be immediate and
short-term but can also be enduring.

 Aggressive behavior and attitudes are learned at

young ages and can result in lifelong violence
unless there are interventions.
Conclusion
 Parents should watch television and other media with their
children and evaluate the shows together.

 Adults need to talk with children about what they observe through
the media, to find out how children are interpreting what they see
and to help clarify misinterpretations.

 Parents can designate an approved list of media options for their

children and give children choices from among approved shows.

 Parents can assist children in finding alternatives to viewing adult

television. In addition, parents can use videotapes of high quality
children's programming and public television when commercial
alternatives are not available.
