Towns and
Villages

Tralee is the largest town in Kerry and 23.6

thousand people live there. Dingle,
Portmagee, Kenmare, Sneem and Killarney
are all towns and villages in Kerry.
Agriculture

The Kerry breed of cattle are used mainly for milk,

they are also the first known breed to be bred only
for dairy. They usually live for 14-15 years. There are
about 8,500 farms in Kerry.
Tourism

Kerry gets a lot of tourism,

especially places like Dingle or
Killarney.
In Dingle, people go there to
see the aquarium, the distillery
or Fungi the dolphin.
In Killarney, people go there to
see Ross castle, the Muckross
house and the Torc waterfall.
In Kerry they play all the GAA
sports as well as soccer.
Their team colours are yellow
and green (as seen in the first
slide)
They are the most successful
team in the history of Gaelic
football having won 37 Senior
football All-Irelands.

Sports
Daniel O’Connell and Tomás Ashe are
both historical figures that came from
Famous People Kerry.
Daniel O’Connell also known as ‘The
Liberator’ did many things to help
Ireland and one of those things was
help Catholics win the right to
become Members of Parliament.
Tomás Ashe is actually a relative of
mine and helped in the Easter Rising.
He commanded the 5th battalion of
the Irish Volunteers. His battalion
won a major battle in Ashbourne,
County Meath. Sadly Tomás died
after being force fed in prison.
Of course there are lots of footballers
in Kerry like Paídi O’Shea, Paddy
‘Bawn’ Brosnan and Mick O’Connell.
Ventry and Ballydavid are Gaeltacht areas meaning that their first language is
Irish and they are very cultural. Students of secondary school and college
Gaeltacht come down here to study the language even further by sometimes living with
a family for a month.
