The Basic Knowledge of Cryolipolysis Therapy

Cryolipolysis is also know as “fat freezing”, and “cool sculpting”, which is a revolutionary technology
for localised fat reduction. It is especially effective on grabable fat and in one session will reduce th
e fat percentage in that area by up to 25%.

Cryolipolysys is based on the fact that fatty tissues are much more susceptible to energy deprivatio
n than other tissues around them. The frozen fat cells go through apoptosis and get eliminated slow
ly reducing the fatty tissues layer.

Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical treatment, without downtime or associated risks of surgical liposuctio

n. It’s is virtually pain free and it removes the unrequired subcutaneous fat cells from the areas wher
e exercise and diet prove to be ineffective. Considerable changes will achieve through this body co
ntouring and localized fat removal procedure.

The advancements of cryolipolysis breaks down the targeted fatty tissues through gentle freezing w
hilst also leaving surrounding tissues and structures intact and unaffected. This is because fatty tiss
ues are less resistant to cold than the tissues around them. The freezing procedure stimulates lipoly
sis and this process of lipolysis continues for several months after the treatment.

Brief explanation of the process of fat cell apoptosis:

When fat cells (adipocytes) undergo apoptosis or controlled cell death, they release a host of chemi
cals called inflammatory mediators e.g. cytokines. Scavenger cells (phagocytes or macrophages) ar
e now able to engulf the fragmented fat cells and efficiently remove them before they spill out to sur
rounding cells, causing damage.

Contraindications
Patients have dermatosis, open and close wound on treatment area, liver problems, Raynaud's dise
ase, who had recently undergone liposuction or another surgical procedure, had a history of subcut
aneous injections into the area of intended treatment within the preceding 6 months, or had a know
n history of cryoglobulinemia, cold urticaria, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, pregnant women a
nd the elderly, young children, frail and those intolerant of cryo-therapy .

Side effects may occur after treatment

- Discomfort cold sensation, typically lasting up to 10 minutes;
- Redness of skin from several minutes to several hours;
-Temporary bruising;
-Temporary tingling, particularly within 7 days after treatment;
-Temporary tenderness, particularly within 7 days after treatment;

Result
-Results of cryolipolysis are usually visible two to four months after treatment, and will continue to i
mprove for up to six months. The fat cells in the treated areas are eliminated through natural metab
olism. Although these results are not as rapid as those achieved through liposuction, patients under
going crylipolysis can avoid pain, risks and lengthy recovery times associated with these more inva
sive procedures. Most patients who undergo cryolipolysis are highly satisfied with the results of thei
r procedures, and are able to enjoy a natureal, slimmer appearance.
-Those who are in reasonably good shape but have some areas where that fat is not shifting, despit
e other efforts, e.g. exercises, would benefit most from cryolipolysis;
-It’s expected that 20-30% fat cells are reduced after 1 session. 1 to 2 sessions are suggested, perf
ormed with a minimal interval of 3 months
The Treatment of Cryolipolysis
1. Have a complete communication with the patient, asking about his/her problem and conditions,
his/her endurance to pain, possibility to attend an important social activity and expectation to the
effect, learning his/her skin condition and psychology to judge the expected effect after the first
treatment. Make sure the patient has no contraindication;
2. Observe the patient’s skin character as well as the features, distribution and thickness of fat
bulges according to his/her description. It’s the best to use a professional device to test thickness of
fat bulges;
3. After the consultation, write down the relative details on a special customer file and make sure all
items are completed, and take a photo with patient’s signature to keep in file. It will be more
convenient to compare the treatment effects and to improve and adjust the following treatment
program;
4. Clean the treatment handles with disinfectant wipes;
5. Turn on the machine, check the status of the machine;
6. Clean the treatment area. If there’re many hairs on treatment area, shave hairs first;
7. Apply vaseline evenly on treatment area, about 1mm thickness. Or use membrane instead of
vaseline;
8. Set the operation parameters of each handle;
9. Place one handles on one treatment area and hold it, meanwhile click Ready button on screen.
The handle contains a suction mechanisam that draws and hold the fatty bulge between two
cooling panels. These will extract heat out of the tissues. Do the same for another handle.
10.Click the pause button to stop after 30 minutes. Take off the handles to check the area. Apply va
seline on next treatment part.
11. Repeat steps 9 & 10 till all intended areas are finished.
12. Clean the treatment area and handles. Note down the skin conditions after treatment.

Notice Items in & after Treatment

1. Shave hairs before treatment to avoid uncomfortable feeling, if a lot of hairs on

treatment area;
2. Vaseline/membrane and IR are used together, to avoid excessive low
temperature;
3. Check the temperature of cooling panels before treatment, make sure they
produce low temperature
4. Use mild temperature water for bath in 1 month after treatment, very cold or very
hot water temperature is not suggested;
5. Strong chemical and physical stimulations on treatment area are not suggested in
one month after treatment;
6. Adequate exercises and healthy diet are suggested after treatment.
