Rizal’s Timeline

This Week
• We will watch the movie “Rizal” starring Cesar
Montano.
• We will lay-out the important events in Rizal’s
life in a timeline.
After watching the movie…
Here are the important events:
• Birth – June 19, 1861 (we celebrate this as
Laguna Day)
• Schooling in Binan (equivalent to our
elementary level)
• Schooling at Ateneo (equivalent to our high
school)
• Schooling at UST (equivalent to our college
level)
Here are the important events:
• 1st trip to Europe
• Schooling in Spain (medical school)
• Writing of Noli me Tangere
• 1st Homecoming to the Philippines
Here are the important events:
• 2nd trip to Europe, with stop-over in Japan and
USA.
• Research on Philippine History at the London
library.
• Involvement in La Solidaridad
• Writing of the El Filibusterismo
• Practiced medicine in Hong Kong
• 2nd Homecoming to the Philippines
Here are the important events:
• Established the La Liga Filipina (a civic org) in
1892
• Arrested because of La Liga, and exiled to
Dapitan (1892-1896)
• Volunteered to be a military doctor on the
side of Spain in the Spanish-Cuban War.
• Trip to Cuba with a stop-over in Manila and
Barcelona, Spain
Here are the important events:
• Arrested in Barcelona (for being the suspected
leader of the KKK).
• Returned to Manila
• Trial and Execution
• Death- December 30, 1896 (we celebrate it as
Rizal Day)
