LEPROSY
Leprosy known as leprosy or
Hansen’s disease is a disease
that attacks the skin of the
perioheral nervous system of
the mucous membranes in the
upper respiratory tract, as
well as the eyes. Leprosy can
cause injury to thr skin, never
damange, muscle weakness
an a numbness.
Sign and Symptom of Leprosy

Numbness, both sensation of changes in Nerve eniargement thet usually occurs in


temperatur, touch, pressure or pain. the elbows and knees.

Cause of Leprosy
Leprosy is caused by the
bacterium mycobacterium
leprae. Cooler body parts
like hands, face, legs and
knees.
Mycobacterium leprae is
a type of bacteria thet can
only develop in certain
human an animal celss.
Treatment of leprosy

Persons affected by leprosy will be given a


combination of antibiotics for 6 months to 2 years. The
type of dose an duraton of antibiotics use is determine a
based on the type of leprosy.
Some examples og antibiotics used for the treatment
og leprosy are rifampicin, dapsone and ciofazimine.
