    REACTION WITH NAOH
    Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine undergo similar reactions with alkalis. The product
    depend On the temperature at which the reaction is carried out.
    Cold dilute NaoH
    When chlorine is added to dilute NaoH at about 15°c,a mixture of sodium
    chloride and sodium chlorate (1) is formed.

    The sodium chlorate (I) produced in the reaction slowly decomposes to sodium
    chloride and sodium chlorate(v), NaCLO3

    Both reaction are fast at 15°c for Bromine and Iodine. Decomposition of iodate
    (I) to iodate(v) occur rapidly even at 0°C
