irregular texture
✘ Wove paper – paper is made on a woven wire cloth
✘ Rough grained paper – has a bumpy surface, good for
watercolor
✘ Medium paper – has fine grain that look subtle when
shading w/ a sharpened pencil

to give it resistance and strength
