HARDOX 400 and 450

By using HARDOX 400 or HARDOX 450 at medium and low worn areas structural
components in the equipment may be given a significantly longer service life.

Structural components are expensive to replace and by picking certain applications


in the shot blast a significant reduction in maintenance cost can be achieved.

 Use HARDOX 400 and HARDOX 450 when sliding or light impact wear may be
expected
 Use it for structural parts expected to be worn
 HARDOX postpone replacement of mayor structural parts
Erosive wear

 Erosion is the main wear type in shot blaster


 Erosive wear rate is influenced by
• Erosive particle hardness
• Erosive particle shape
• Erosive particle impact velocity
• Impingent angle
• Volume of particles
Erosive wear model
 HARDOX 600 for the exposed parts of the blast cabin
 HARDOX 600 gives about twice the service life compared to Manganese steel when
steel shots are used.

Sliding wear model
 In many areas the wear is milder of the type “sliding wear”
 SSAB Oxelösund have a sliding wear model
 For sliding wear the potential is good to extend the service life on structural parts in the design
 Postpone mayor maintenance at equipment in contact with the abrasives

Elevator

About 10% of the abrasive material in a bucket


falls down in the chute and wears the back of the
bucket shell as well as the elevator chute.

The elevator chute is erosive worn with low


impingent angles. After a few years mild steel
walls are completely worn out. By selecting
HARDOX 450 the chute lasts about 2-2,5 times
longer under these conditions.

Strengthening the buckets “cutting edge” with a


3.2mm HARDOX 450 extend the service life
significantly.
Abrasive cleaner

The abrasive cleaner is a structural part directly


exposed to light erosive wear.

By building the abrasive cleaner in HARDOX 450


6-12mm the mayor maintenance can be postponed
several years.

HARDOX 400 or HARDOX 450 is a excellent


material selection in all sliding chutes and transport
screws.
