INTRODUCTION

** Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (known as BSNL) is a public


sector  telecommunication company in India.

** It is India's largest telecommunication company with 24%


market share as on March 31, 2009.

** Currently has a customer base of 90


A Presentation bymillion as of June 2009.

** It has the status of Mani Ratna, a status assigned to reputed


public sector companies in India.
FINANCIAL OVERVIEW

** During the financial year 2006-2007 BSNL has added 9.6


million new customers in various telephone services taking its
customer base to 64.8 million.

** However, despite impressive growth shown by BSNL in recent


times, the Fixed line customer base of BSNL is declining.

** In order to woo back its fixed-line customers BSNL has


brought down long distance calling rate under OneIndia plan,
however, the success of the scheme is not known.

Survey on Consumer Satisfaction

** Earlier the BSNL deployed IMRB for survey on


consumer satisfaction in the major towns and cities
** Now the T&D Circle of BSNL is carrying out such
surveys
** The BSNL is trying to get ISO:2000 Certification. The
consumer satisfaction survey data is also needed for
this certification
CONSUMERS FEEDBACK
Feedback against different departments in BSNL
are briefly stated below:

** Good Broadband facility has got a positive


response
from the customers.

** The launch of USB data card for high


speed net has
helped BSNL to cover up the various losses.
RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
** BSNL have launched blackberry services in India.

** BSNL's has recently launched Wireless Broadband


network.

** It has launched the 3G facility in 11 states in India.

** At present, there are nearly 400 million telecom


connections in the country and every month 10 million
new connections are
being added.
** In the service sector, telecom industry is the most
active and attractive.

** Though the telecom industry is growing rapidly


India's telecom density is less than the
world's average telecom density as most of India's
market is yet to be covered.

** This attracts private operators to


enter into the Indian telecom industry.

** BSNL has to be alert to run its


business and survive in the market.
