Questions with how:

How is used with adjectives ( how old, how


long) and adverbs (how often) to make
questions. In this lesson, the only adverb
presented is often, an adverb of frequency. Other
adverbs can also be used with this structure,
including adverbs of manner( how well do you
speak English?)

How many cigarettes do you smoke a day?
How old is your father?
How long did your granfather live?
How often do you go to the gym?

We use how much to ask about the quantity of non-countable nouns.


We use how many to ask about the quantity of contable nouns.
We use how old to ask about age.
We use how long to ask about length or a period of time.
We use how often to ask about frequency.
