This document discusses different methods for repairing dental crowns and fixed prosthodontics, including:
1. Intra-oral repair methods such as using etching gel, silane coupling agent, opaquer, and composite materials to repair defective porcelain or fill occlusal perforations in base metal or gold restorations.
2. Extra-oral repair methods including using low-fusing porcelain, soldering techniques, or resoldering to repair issues like defective porcelain, perforations, or fractured solder joints.
3. Indications for removing and replacing a restoration such as needing to change the bridge design, loose abutments, fractured ceramic cores, or cervical caries at

A) Intra oral repair.
B) Extra oral repair . A-intra oral repair 1-defective porcelain fused to metal. • Etching gel. • Rinse then dry with oil – free air. • Silane coupling agent. • Layer of 0.5 mm of opaquer. • Layer of bonding liquid. • Selected composite shade in layers of max 2mm . • Finishing and polishing . 2) Occlusal perforation of base metal restorations Amalgam filling material.
3) Occlusal perforation of gold restorations.
Gold foil. b)Extra oral repair 1- Defective porcelain fused to metal . • Low fusing porcelain. 2) Occlusal perforation of the restoration. • Soldering technique. 3) Repair of fractured solder joints. • Resoldering. 4)correct overextending margin . • Adjusted. • Remake the restoration is indicated in the following cases. - Need to change the bridge design. - Looseness of the abutment. - Fractured ceramic core. - Cervical caries related to the crown margin.
