Introduction
 SUPERMARKET MANAGEMENT SYSTEM is a Relational Database
management system.
 It manages all the required details of the supermarket.
 It also maintains record of all the transactions that took place.
i.e. whether the goods are purchased from the suppliers or sold to
the customers.
 The process like retrieving, searching, displaying, manipulating,
updating and various other processes can be done in less time.
 Each employee is provided with a unique barcode. This barcode is a
key factor for identifying the employees.
 For creating new user of the system or for updating information of
any employee or to carry out any other operation, the barcode is
needed.
How our system works?
The user enters username, password, access level, Data Source
Name(DSN) and Database name. When all the fields are verified, he
will be able to use the system.

 After login is successful, he can have access to all the records and
can also manipulate them, depending upon his access level.

He can add, update and search the records of employees, suppliers
and the products. But the facility to delete the record is given only
to the administrator.

 The details of the transaction and ID of the person who made

those transactions are stored in the database.

Features of our system
 The fundamental features like creating new user, adding, deleting,
editing and searching the records of employees, suppliers and the
products are incorporated in our system.

The work of an administrator and of an normal operator is

separated. i.e. a user cannot perform the works of an administrator.

The record of who and when logged in and out of the system is
stored in the database.

While carrying out the transactions, calculator is needed. So, the

calculator is already present in our system.

The report of the goods sold can also be generated.

User interface
Following are the user interface elements present in our
supermarket management system:
 Login page
 Main menu
 Employee record manipulation page
 Supplier record manipulation page
 Product record manipulation page
 Transaction processing
Future enhancements
 Switching from SQL SERVER to ORACLE 10g database.

 Using RFID as employee’s identifying factor.

 Integrating credit card facility.

This project will be helpful for the users in various fields:
 It helps the users to add, update and delete the records easily.

 It acts as a simple search engine to search any stored records.

 It is efficient and cheaper than the paper works.

 It saves user’s time for handling various type of works.
