The name "Macedonia" is the oldest surviving
name of a country in Europe.

After a battle between Macedonian Emperor
Samuel and Byzantine Emperor Basil II, Samuel
was saved and in revenge Basil II blinded 14,000
of Samuel's soldiers and even tough Samuel
survived the battle his heart stopped when he saw
his men.
 Ottoman Empire

5 centuries under the Ottoman Empire and the worst
thing the Turkish Emperor did was enforce a blood
tax. Young boys and girls were given to the Emperor
and he decided their faith. Parents cut off their kid's
fingers just so they can keep them from his hands
because that way they weren't good enough for him.
 The Independence Movement

The second half of the 19th century was the fight for the
liberation of Macedonia.
After WWI Macedonia was split and Serbia, Bulgaria,
●

Greece and Albania all got a part of it.

In between the two World Wars a lot of people tried to make
Macedonia an independent country so it can be an equal
part of the future Balkan Federation.

In 1945 Macedonia became a part of the
Yugoslavian Republic.

In 1991 Macedonia declared it's independence
from SFRY and was the only country to do it
peacefully.
