HISTORY
 For over 2.000 years, since the
formation of the centralized united
Dacian state by Burebista and until our
days, the Romanian people fought to
exist here, on these old and beautiful
land. The fight for the recognition of the
state was done with what was available
at that time, in a diplomatic, political,
economical and military plan.

  After the Adrianopol Treaty in 2   In1866, the army of the United

September 1829, after the Russo-
Turkish War, the Romanian countries
obtained the right to organize “a number
of permanently armed guards", or better
said to have their own army. On 30 april
1830, in the Romanian Principates the
MODERN ROMANIAN INFANTRY
was
born.
Principates had seven infantry
regiments and three hunter
battalions, in total 80 companies.  
The entire evolution of the Romanian
infantry was connected with three
major events:the war for
Independence in 1877 and the two
world wars.
HISTORY

 After 1990, some infantry units participated on international missions to

keep the peace in different parts of the world. Between1995-1999, the four
Blue Helmets battalions participated in Angola at the longest Romanian
mission to keep the peace.
 From the infantry, we have other military specialties: mountain hunters,
paratroopers, research and the new military police.
MISSION

  Romanian soldiers complete with dignity and profesionalism the missions in

Afganistan, Irak and Kosovo. They demonstrate the value of Romanian infantry,
equal and sometimes even better then other soldiers in other armies around the
world, with tradition in the peace keep activity.
 MISSION
 The implication of the infantry in the total actions of the Ground Forces is
decisive, being determined by the place, role, objectives, missions and
operational functions in direct relation with the main risk factors that threat
the national security.
ROLE
  The infantry has an important role in the total actions of the Ground Forces
because: it represents the main component of the Ground Forces and it has
alone or with other specialties decisive military actions in any zone and in any
direction of the national territory; it is a force capable to realize the presence,
expansion, continuity and domination in the field and to support in any
moment all the military actions and the structures of infantry are present on all
the national territory.

does decisive actions, alone or together
with the other specialties, in any area and
in any direction.
