Archaeology is the scientific study of past cultures through the artifacts and remains they left behind. It provides a unique view of history by allowing us to understand not just where and when people lived, but how they lived and how their culture changed over time. Unlike literature which relies on written documents, archaeology allows us to study periods before writing through the everyday items excavated. It is also the only method that can study all time periods and regions due to leaving behind physical remains for archaeologists to discover and analyze.

WHAT IS ARCHAEOLOGY ? Archaeology is the scientific study of past cultures and the way people lived, based on the things they left behind. Culture is the shared ways of life learned by a group of people, including their language, religion, technology, and HOW IT HELPS US TO STUDY HISTORY ? Archaeology offers a unique view on history and culture. It helps us to understand not only where and when people lived, but also why and how they have lived, learning the changes and causes. Unlike literature or philosophy, that rely primarily on documents and facts or dates to interpret and explain historical events, archaeology gives us a chance to see the time before written languages were born. We can see life of simple people and what they used every day. In my opinion, archaeology is the only method of studying history that covers all time periods and geographic regions. Thanks to archaeology, because without it we wouldn't know the ancient Egyptian religion, wouldn’t see the tomb of Tutankhamen. We wouldn't have any knowledge about ancient Greece, and our museums and galleries would be empty. Thanks for watching!
