DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH
Descriptive research is used to
describe characteristics of a
population or phenomenon being
studied. It does not answer
questions about how/when/why the
characteristics occurred
Example:

Students
HISTORICAL RESEARCH
A procedures supplementary to
observation in which the researcher
seeks to test the authenticity of the
reports or observations made by others.
The historical method is employed by
researchers who are interested in
reporting events and/or conditions that
occurred in the past.
An attempt is made to establish facts
in order to arrive at conclusions
concerning past events or predict future
events.
Example:
EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH
An experiment is an investigation in which a
hypothesis is scientifically tested. In an
experiment, an independent variable (the cause)
is manipulated and the dependent variable (the
effect) is measured; any extraneous variables are
controlled. An advantage is that experiments
should be objective. The views and opinions of
the researcher should not affect the results of a
study. This is good as it makes the data
morevalid, and less bias.

CASE STUDY
Is a descriptive, exploratory analysis of
a single case example of phenomena.
This research focuses in describing a
person, thing or a creature to explain the
purpose of its existence. It deals with
how a person, organization, things
behaves occurs in a particular manner.
Example:
ETNOGRAPHIC
It focuses in describing the culture and
the society. Includes in a certain
organization.
Example:
PHENOMENOLOGY
This qualitative research focuses on
the subjective experiences and
interpretation of people to the to the
world.
Example:
GROUNDED THEORY
Involve the understanding of psycho-
social context. This study involves the
development of the theories to explain
sociological and psychological influence
phenomena for proper identification of
educational processes.
