Training
O According to Edwin Flippo, ‘training is the act of increasing
the skills of an employee for doing a particular job’.
O A basic concept in human resource development concerned
with developing a particular skill to a desired standard by
instruction and practice.
O highly useful tool that can bring an employee into a position
where they can do their job correctly, effectively, and
conscientiously.
O Act of increasing the knowledge and skill of an employee for
doing a particular job.
 
Development
O training for the top level employees is considered as
development, also known as management or executive
development.
O an on-going systematic procedure in which managerial
staff learns to enhance their conceptual, theoretical
knowledge and help the individual to bring efficiency
and effectiveness in their work performances.
O not only limited to a particular task, but also aims to
improve personality and attitude for their overall growth
O changes the mindset of the employees and makes them
more challenging or competing.
