Towards Understanding

Islam
The Religion of GOD for Humanity
Religion and its origin
EveryReligion has been named after
Its founder/particular people
Community or nation/country/place

What Before THIS ????

What is your natural notion of GOD?
GOD’s Statement
So set you (O Muhammad SAW) your face
towards the religion of pure Islamic
Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allah
Alone) Allah's Fitrah (i.e. Allah's Islamic
Monotheism), with which He has created
mankind. No change let there be in Khalq-illah
(i.e. the Religion of Allah Islamic
Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but
most of men know not.
30: 30
The Meaning of Islam
Islam has got no such association nor it is
the product of any human mind
Islam is universal and its objective is to
cultivate in man the quality and attitude of
ISLAM( Submission to only One God)
You Submit to ONE GOD you BECOME
A Muslim irrespective of your race,
community , country, location or group
Universality of Islam
And We have sent you (O
Muhammad SAW) not but as a
mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind,
jinns and all that exists).21:107
Objective: Purpose of Life
And I (Allah) created not the jinns and
humans except they should worship Me
(Alone). [51:56]
Who has created death and life, that He may
test you which of you is best in deed. And He
is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving; [67:2]

We are individually responsible for our

decisions.
The Muslim: If you submit to One GOD
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "O people of
the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come
to a word that is just between us and you,
that we worship none but Allah, and that
we associate no partners with Him, and
that none of us shall take others as lords
besides Allah. Then, if they turn away,
say: "Bear witness that we are Muslims."
[3:64]
The Meaning of Islam
Islam means: Complete Submission, surrender,
obedience to One GOD
Another meaning of Islam is peace

Every creatures submit to One GOD by following

the law of GOD and thus a Muslim by default
except Human Being and Jinn because of
FREEDOM OF CHOICE(reason and intellect)
[76:29],[67:10],[40:67],[39:43],[23:80],[21:10]
The GOD is the Source and all other things are
creatures. [6:101]
Are you Reasonable?
[21:10]
Indeed, We have sent down for you (O
mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which
there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an
honour for you i.e. honour for the one
who follows the teaching of the Quran
and acts on its orders). Will you not then
understand?
Let Us reflect and ponder over the GOD!
The Nature of Disbelief
The use of Reason and intellect: Believer and
disbeliever
The natural disposition of man is that , there must
be a creator ???
When we don’t find any we become a disbeliever
or atheist or doubters.
The word in Arabic “kufr” means-to conceal
something (intrinsic or tangible)
So a disbeliever conceal his natural disposition of
GOD being unable to realize the obvious THE
GOD
The Nature of Disbelief
Kufr is a form of ignorance and tyranny :
denying The God is nothing but arrogance
and disobedience or rebellion.[4:173],[71:7],
[46:20], [2:99],
A disbeliever supposed to be rational but in
reality he has limited vision and knowledge.
[2:13],[2:130],[7:67],[72:4]
How can we perceive a world of perfect order
without a master, designer, creator, governor?
[3:190-191]
How can we remain a Non-Muslim?
 [3:190-191]
 Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the
alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of
understanding.
 Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing,
sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about
the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our
Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to
You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You
as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.
 [21:16]
 AND [know that] We have not created the heavens and the
earth and all that is between them in mere idle play:
The Choice is YOURS!!!
To submit or not to submit???

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "It is revealed

to me that your Ilah (God) is only one Ilah
(God - Allah). Will you then submit to His
Will (become Muslims and stop
worshipping others besides
Allah)?“[21:108]
REFLECT!!!
[76:3]
Verily, We have shown him the way: [and
it rests with him to prove himself] either
grateful or ungrateful.
[76:29]
Verily! This (Verses of the Quran) is an
admonition, so whosoever wills, let him
take a Path to his Lord (Allah).
REFLECT!!!
[41:33]
And who is better in speech than he who
[says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His
Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts
upon His Order), and] invites (men) to
Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does
righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of
the Muslims."
REFLECT!!!
[72:14]
'And of us some are Muslims (who have
submitted to Allah, after listening to this
Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun
(disbelievers those who have deviated
from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has
embraced Islam (i.e. has become a
Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such
have sought the Right Path."
REFLECT!!!
[30:53]
And you (O Muhammad SAW) cannot
guide the blind from their straying; you
can make to hear only those who believe
in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses,
lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and have
submitted to Allah in Islam (as Muslims).
The Blessing of ISLAM
Islam directs Man to THE GOD(the source)
who has power over all things seen/unseen.
Islam demands obedience to THE GOD in
all spheres of life: personal, social, national
and international.
Islam Stresses Man to live in this world as a
stranger who is here for a tiny amount of
period.
How can you disbelieve in Allah? Seeing that you were dead and He gave you life. Then
He will give you death, then again will bring you to life (on the Day of Resurrection)
and then unto Him you will return. [2:28]
The Blessing of ISLAM
FAITH and Obedience
Obedience is conditional to Faith which must be
unshakeable
Faith in GOD must be firm and this very faith is
not a blind faith nor it is just a traditional belief .
Faith in ISLAM (Eemaan in ALLAH) is
conscious , rational , firm decision which a
Muslim adheres and cultivates during his
lifetime which is not a mere words, but
practiced in life with the intention of
Manifesting the WILL OF GOD.
Test of Faith: A Must for true slave of
GOD
[3:186]
You shall certainly be tried and tested in your
wealth and properties and in your personal selves,
and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve
you from those who received the Scripture before
you (Jews and Christians) and from those who
ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere
patiently, and become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see
V. 2:2) then verily, that will be a determining factor
in all affairs, and that is from the great matters,
[which you must hold on with all your efforts].
The GOD of Humanity: the God in
ISLAM
Every religion has different notions of
GOD.
 They have made GOD the product of
their own creation.
 People have rejected and fabricated
their religious scriptures.
MUSLIM worship GOD as He has
Revealed in His final Revelation. [The
Quran]
Attributes of GOD: A question of Ages!!!

What you Believe???

Test Your Belief[GOD OR GODS] in 4
Criterion
[112:1-4]
1.Say (O Muhammad (Peace be upon
him)): "He is Allah, (the) One.
2."Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient
Master, Whom all creatures need, He
neither eats nor drinks).
3."He begets not, nor was He begotten;
4."And there is none co-equal or
comparable unto Him."
GOD in the Quran[Islam]
16:5--no two gods
2:163– One GOD only
4:171– No trinity/three God, God has got no son, Jesus was his rasul
(prophet) only
9:31– Worship only Allah
14:52/37:4-- God is only One GOD
17:42-- No god beside GOD
17:56/25:3– Other god has no power, in fact are created .
17:110– Do not associate partners in/with (worship of) God
21:22-- Danger of More than One GOD
114:1– Lord of the Mankind
42:11-- There is nothing like unto Him.[ we can’t describe GOD by
our own description and explanation]
2:109-- Allah is Able to do all things.
Authenticate Your notion of GOD
Atheist- 45:24
Disbeliever-64:2,78:40,77:46,76:27,75:31
Associators-
30:42,4:48,6:22,6:64,6:78,79,80,81
6:161,7:191, 12:106,16:120,18:38,22:17
23:92,27:59,63.40:84,59:23
Atheist
[45:24]
And they say: "There is nothing but our life of
this world, we die and we live and nothing
destroys us except Ad-Dahr (the time). And they
have no knowledge of it, they only conjecture.
[45:26]
Say (to them): "Allah gives you life, then causes
you to die, then He will assemble you on the Day
of Resurrection about which there is no doubt.
But most of mankind know not."
Disbelievers
[78:40]
Verily, We have warned you of a near torment,
the Day when man will see that (the deeds)
which his hands have sent forth, and the
disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I
were dust!“
[64:2]
He it is Who created you, then some of you
are disbelievers and some of you are believers.
And Allah is All-Seer of what you do.
Associators
[4:48]
Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up
with him in worship, but He forgives except that
(anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets
up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed
invented a tremendous sin.
[6:22]
And on the Day when We shall gather them all
together, We shall say to those who joined partners in
worship (with Us): "Where are your partners (false
deities) whom you used to assert (as partners in
worship with Allah)?"
Take the Challenge of Quran[Allah]
“Were all mankind to come together and wish to
produce the like of the Qur’an, they would never
succeed, however much they aided each other”.
(17:88)

“Do people imagine that this Qur’an is not from
Us, and that you, O Prophet are falsely attributing
to us? Tell them that if they are speaking truly they
should produce ten surahs resembling the Qur’an,
and that they are free to call on the aid of anyone
but God in so doing.” (11:13)
Allah has Preserved the Quran
“Verily, We have revealed the
Reminder, and verily We shall
preserve it.” (Quran 15:9)
Do they not then consider the Quran
carefully? Had it been from other
than Allah, they would surely have
found therein much contradictions.
[4:82]
Attributes of GOD: A must knowledge
for Salvation
It is the knowledge of GOD’s attributes
which purifies a man’s mind and soul, his
beliefs, morals and actions.
Absence of knowledge of GOD’s
attributes leads Man to insidious doubts
and perversions.
Hereafter: The Truth and Justice
ISLAMic belief system necessitates the
belief in life after death.
Life after death is inevitable for two
reason:
To unveil the Reality(The GOD)
To establish the ultimate Justice
with people
How to acquire knowledge of GOD?

Knowledge of GOD?
His Attributes?
His Law?
Day of Judgment?

For different people different prophets and
revelations throughout the ages with different
traditions BUT with the same message of pure
Monotheism.(the core of religion)
THE GUIDANCE: THE PROPHETS
[2:213]
Mankind were one community and Allah sent
Prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with
them He sent the Scripture in truth to judge
between people in matters wherein they differed.
And only those to whom (the Scripture) was given
differed concerning it after clear proofs had come
unto them through hatred, one to another. Then
Allah by His Leave guided those who believed to
the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah
guides whom He wills to a Straight Path.
Uniform Message of the Prophets
[21:25]
And We did not send any Messenger
before you (O Muhammad SAW) but We
inspired him (saying): La ilaha illa Ana
[none has the right to be worshipped but I
(Allah)], so worship Me (Alone and none
else)."
THE GUIDANCE: THE QURAN
[2:2]
This is the Book (the Quran), whereof
there is no doubt, a guidance to those who
are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous
persons who fear Allah much (abstain
from all kinds of sins and evil deeds
which He has forbidden) and love Allah
much (perform all kinds of good deeds
which He has ordained)].

ISLAM : The Comprehensive Religion
Islam is comprehensive in many ways. It is comprehensive in the sense that it applies to
all human beings and is applicable by all regardless of where or what time they may be
living. Islam or submission to God is the true way of life from the time of the first
human until the time of last human on this Earth. 57 Furthermore, Islam is for all classes
of people. Islam is just as much relevant to the most knowledgeable scientist as well as
the illiterate Bedouin. Allah says concerning the Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him), “Say (O Muhammad to the people), ‘O mankind!
Verily, I am sent to you all as the Messenger of Allah’ (7:158). Another verse reads,
“And We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a giver of glad tidings and a
warner to all mankind” (34:28). Among the Prophet's followers were the rich and poor,
nobles and weak, literate and illiterate. All of them were able to apply Islam and thereby,
Allah willing, earn the pleasure of God.
Islam also covers both this life and the Hereafter. Islam is not a religion that is only
concerned with the Hereafter. Islam offers complete and practical guidance for the affairs
of this world as well. As noted earlier, one of the goals of Islam is to establish a sound
and proper society in this life. As for the Hereafter, goodness therein is dependent
completely upon Islam and working towards the Hereafter in the proper way. Allah may
give anyone some of the goods of this world but He reserves the good of the Hereafter
only for those who are pious believers.
ISLAM : The Comprehensive Religion
Islam also attends to all of the various components of a human. It is
concerned with the human's spirit, intellect, body, beliefs, actions and
morality. It protects the human from the diseases of the heart as well as from
the diseases of the body and diseases of society as a whole. Thus, one can
find guidance concerning the disease of arrogance that appears in the heart,
guidance directing humans to balanced eating and drinking without
extravagance and guidance steering humans away from corruption and
social diseases such as adultery and the like. In essence, Islam guides
humans to a balanced life in which no component is ignored or neglected.
Instead, each component receives the attention that it deserves and requires.
Islam is also comprehensive in the sense that it covers all aspects of a
person's life, from ritual worship to ethics and moral behavior to acts of
business and government. Nothing, by the grace and mercy of Allah, has
been neglected. There is no reason for anyone to feel lost concerning any
area of his life. No matter what the issue, he will be able to find some
guidance to help him.
Deen[religion]
Deen in Islam is the comprehensive term
which covers all the aspects of religion.

 This day, I have perfected your religion

for you, completed My Favour upon you,
and have chosen for you Islam as your
religion. [5:3]
Shariah[Laws and Rituals]: Complete
code of life
Sharia in Islam means the laws , rules of GOD for
living the life.
It includes all spheres of worship and life.
Shariah is not stable but its principles are fixed. That’s
why Legal jurists use the methodology of Ijtihad ,
used to infer legal opinions
Religious verdicts must be based on the Principles of
Quran and Sunna ,the prophetic traditions.
Ibadah or worship encompasses all deeds you perform
in this life if done with purely for Allah alone and with
the methodology of Last Prophet Muhammad [sw] .
Ummah : The One Community of
Muslim
Muslim Ummah is unique from other
Community in the sense that it is not
based on race, nation, place, people, or
anything except one thing , that is
Submission to GOD .
Anyone who submits to Allah become a
muslim and a part of the MUSLIM
COMMUNITY(UMMAH)
UMMAH
[21:92]
This community of yours is one community and I am
your Lord, so worship Me.
[3:110]
You are indeed the best community that has ever been
brought forth for [the good of] mankind. You enjoin what
is good, and forbid what is evil, and you believe in God.
[49:10]
The believers are nothing else than brothers (in Islamic
religion). So make reconciliation between your brothers,
and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy.
Ummah: Its nature and Responsibility
Balanced Ummah : 2:143
To Propagate the message of ISLAM 3:110,3;104
Unity 23:52, 21:92,6:153,3:103
Struggle in the cause of Allah
[22:78]
And strive hard in Allah's Cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and
with all your efforts that His Name should be superior). He has chosen you
(to convey His Message of Islamic Monotheism to mankind by inviting them
to His religion, Islam), and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship, it
is the religion of your father Ibrahim (Abraham) (Islamic Monotheism). It is
He (Allah) Who has named you Muslims both before and in this (the Quran),
that the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) may be a witness over you and you be
witnesses over mankind! So perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), give Zakat
and hold fast to Allah [i.e. have confidence in Allah, and depend upon Him in
all your affairs] He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent
Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper!

Reason and Revelation
Reason is the capacity of consciously making
sense of things, applying logic, and adapting or
justifying practices, institutions, and beliefs based
on new or existing information.
The Bottom Line of Reason is
To use information to Reach to a
conclusion/decision
Reason and Revelation
In religion and theology, revelation isthe
revealing or disclosing of some form of
truth or knowledge.
The Bottom Line of Revelation is
 Information from GOD to Man

Intellect
Reason and Revelation
The English word Fatih or Belief is not
The substitute or synonymous word to
Arabic word “EMAAN”
The Words Faith or Belief carry within
them an implication of untruth,
probability, doubt or suspicion.
The term and meaning of EMAAN is the
complete opposite to THE MEANING OF
words Faith or Belief.
EMAAN
EMAAN the Arabic word deriving from
“amn” means security,
So the correct and relevant definition of
EMAAN means that the propositions it
covers are in fact true , and that their truth has
been appropriated (understood and accepted )
by Mind/Reason.
EMAAN is hence a “conviction”, absolutely
free of doubt of probability, of guessing and
uncertainty.
EMAAN: Emotion or Intelligence
We admire faith based on our upbringing
most of the time
Only few people choose their religion on
their Reason.
In Islamic System Every child is born on
the same religion of GOD that is Islam.
But it is the Environmental influence that
make people diverted to other Worldly
religions.
EMAAN: The test of VALIDITY
Any idea or thing that can be proved scientifically is
accepted
BUT how can we prove that GOD is One or There is any
GOD exists?
The Basic principle is that anything which cant be sensed
has no existence is the biggest myth on the earth.
The astronauts has discovered some space in the
Universe we can now believe for sure. BUT if you ask
him about some further possibility of new SPACES will
he deny ???
No He will not deny the possibility!!!! Even though he is
not confirmed.
Possibility: That GOD exists
The percentage of Atheists in the world are
far less than the Theists.
This indicates Man always believed in GOD
but their Understanding of GOD has been
different.
When people can’t find the solution to HIS
problem in life in a religion he Denies the
whole of it and become Atheist or just hang
with it like a thread which is ready to cut off.
Possibility: That GOD exists
[2:164]---ACCEPTANCE BY Observation/reason
Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth,
and in the alternation of night and day, and the ships
which sail through the sea with that which is of use to
mankind, and the water (rain) which Allah sends
down from the sky and makes the earth alive
therewith after its death, and the moving (living)
creatures of all kinds that He has scattered therein,
and in the veering of winds and clouds which are held
between the sky and the earth, are indeed Ayat
(proofs, evidences, signs, etc.) for people of
understanding.
Possibility: That GOD exists
[2:132]—acceptance by Uniformity of
GOD’S message
And this (submission to Allah, Islam) was
enjoined by Ibrahim (Abraham) upon his
sons and by Ya'qub (Jacob), (saying), "O my
sons! Allah has chosen for you the (true)
religion, then die not except in the Faith of
Islam (as Muslims - Islamic Monotheism).“
2:136,3:67,3:102
Possibility: That GOD exists
Acceptance by Miracle(Linguistic)
“Were all mankind to come together and
wish to produce the like of the Qur’an,
they would never succeed, however much
they aided each other”. (17:88)

Possibility: That GOD exists
 [23:44] ---acceptance by Geographical proofs
Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every
time there came to a nation their Messenger, they
denied him, so We made them follow one another (to
destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true
stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So
away with a people who believe not.
[6:11]
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Travel in the land and
see what was the end of those who rejected truth."
Possibility: That GOD exists
[21:30]---acceptance by Scientific proof
Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the
earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted
them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they
not then believe?
THE CONCEPT OF BIG BANG theory 1400 Years ago
Mentioned in the QURAN . Who could have mentioned the
Mystery of Universe.
Prophet Muhammad was unlettered
Also for those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet
[7:157]-
Quran has got 1000+ scientific verses which are 100% correct
and some are unseen we believe in it because it is the TEST for
the Believer.
Validity: QURAN
[4:82] --acceptance by Falsification test
Do they not ponder on the Quran? If it
had been from anyone other than God,
they would have found much
inconsistency in it.
Reliability: Survival Test
[3:19]
Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) did
not differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever
disbelieves in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, then surely, Allah
is Swift in calling to account.
[3:85]
And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam,[submission to One True GOD] it will never be
accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.
[2:136]
Say (O Muslims), "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has
been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob), and to Al-
Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and 'Iesa
(Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction
between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam).“
[3:64]
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a word that is
just between us and you, that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him,
and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: "Bear
witness that we are Muslims.“
THE CONVERTS TO ISLAM ARE WITNESS TO THE RELIABILITY AND ACCEPTABILITY
OF THIS RELIGION OF GOD even in this 21 st Century.
CONFUSION
IF YOU WANT TO JUDGE ANY
RELIGION DON’T GO BY THEIR
PEOPLE BUT GO FOR THEIR
SCRIPTURES
IF YOU FIND ANY COTRADICTION
IN ISLAM THEN YOU MUST ASK
WHO ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE IN
THE PARTICULAR AREA OF ISLAM.
When Will You Submit ???
[41:53]
In time We shall make them fully understand Our
messages [through what they perceive] in the utmost
horizons [of the universe] and within themselves, so
that it will become clear unto them that this
[revelation/QURAN] is indeed the truth. [Still,] is it
not enough [for them to know] that thy Sustainer is
witness unto everything?

Arabic linguistic pattern Allah used . It is Royal Plural

QURAN
[39:22]
Could, then, one whose bosom God has
opened wide with willingness towards self-
surrender unto Him, so that he is illumined
by a light [that flows] from his Sustainer,
[be likened to the blind and deaf of heart]?
Woe, then, unto those whose hearts are
hardened against all remembrance of God!
They are most obviously lost in error!
