AS7 :
Adaptation Signalling link (CCS7) for X.25 & LAPD connections.

SERO :

HWAT :

This card collects external & internal alarms coming from BSC & transfers it
to OMU

1.A interface :

a. Performing the function of the MTP and SCCP of SS7.

b. Controlling the mobile and base station signalling (BSSAP).

2.ABIS interface :

It control the air interface channels associated with TRX’s and ABIS

MCMU - Control functionality

MCMU=Marker + Cellular Management Unit.

Marker:
It control and supervises the 8kbits/s bit group switch (GSWB) unit & perform
connecting and releasing of the circuits.

Cellular Management Unit:

This part is responsible for cells & radio channels. It manages the
configuration of the cellular network.

MCMU also acts as a BSC SYS(BSC Maintenance) unit in case of OMU

SWCOP - Switching Control Operating Processor

Is the control processor of the switching network.

It controls one or two 256 PCM circuit switching network blocks.

Performs the functions required by the switching and supervision message.

It supervises its switching network blocks independently.

The Switch Control Interface writes the required connections into the switch
control memory and reads its contents

GROUP SWITCH

1.Conveys the traffic passing through the BSC and switches the
tones to the subscribers of the exchange and to the trunk circuits.

2. The operation of the Bit Group Switch is controlled and supervised


by the Marker and Cellular Management Unit.

3. BSC3i 1000/2000 consists of eight pieces of SW256B plug-in units


having 2048 pcs of 2 Mbit/s internal PCMs

4. The Bit Group Switch in BSC3i 660 consists of four SW128B plug-
in units having 512 pcs of 2 Mbit/s internal PCMs (GSW1KB).

CAL :

Is used to execute MML commands and disk command files


automatically.

Used to carry out routine tasks repeatedly that do not need that do

SOMAFI – System Configuration Management File :

It contains general information about all the software packages in the


system

It includes Name, Disk directory, Status & identify of every packages.

When the system or a single unit is started up Or restarted , this file is


checked so that files are loaded from the correct packages into the
computer units memory.

This file is located in SCMANA directory.

BLCODE – Boot Loadable Code Directory

1. Contains all the software program code modules & the MAFILE
of a software build.

2. The master file of the system is MAFILE. Each build as its own
master file.

-BSS Radio Network Configuration Database

BSC cofiguration database – contains the configuration date and the


control parameters of the radio network in the BSS. ( BSC function control
parameter, BTS, Handover control & power control parameter…

EQUIPM:

Equipment database defines the network configuration of the network.

OEDATA:

- Configuration database of the OSI layers.

CLS- Clock and Synchronization Unit

It generates basic timing signals needed for the units.

The synchronization signal is extracted from the external PCM circuit signal coming to the
network
element.

It contains Synchronization unit & clock buffer.

Clock and Tone Generator ( CLxTG) :

1.The synchronization unit is implemented by CLxTG plug in unit.

2.It receives the 8kHz & 16MHz synchronization signal by ET.

3.CLTG is connected to OMU through GSW by means of control


channel.

CLAB- Clock and Alarm Buffer :

It receives the timing signals from the synchronization unit via bus.

The basic timing signals distributed to the catridges are generated by these
signals.

3.Supervision and testing of wired alarms.
4.Communication with HWAT via the supervision bus for wired alarms.

Capacity for BSC3i-2000 with full configuration :

Maximum we can use 50 PCU units( Logically 100 units).


So, totally 100*256 = 25600TCH (16kbits/s) per BSC3i we can
use.

For BSC3i – 660 :

Maximum 12 PCU units (logically 24 PCU units) .


We can use 256*24=6144 TCH per BSC3i we can use.
