WHAT IS SIGNALING ?

Signaling refers to the exchange of information between network elements .

Signaling between network elements follows a specific protocol .

A Protocol refers to the set of rules for communicating between the elements .
WHAT IS SS7 SIGNALING ?

 The SS7 protocol is a set of phone protocols developed in


1975.
 These protocols are responsible for the installation of all
services for telephone calls and the installation and
configuration of many other services such as SMS.
 It is one of the most popular signaling protocols used
frequently with PTNs. It controls the transmission and
processing of messages to cells such as SIM card
services and free services.
