Bangladesh has the following divisions:


1.Barishal
2.Dhaka
3.Chittagong

• The divisions are divided into 64 districts,


or zila.
• The districts are further subdivided into 493
sub-districts, or upazila or thana.
• The upazilas are the second lowest tier of
administrative government in Bangladesh.

union, then village (gram) and para.
 Upazila/thana has a “Thana Parishad”
 Union has a “Union Parishad”
 Gram and para has no administrative units.

responsible for policy, planning and
decision making.
