INTRODUCTION

A soft drink also called (pop , soda ,


coke, soda pop fizzy drink , seltzer,
mineral , lolly water or carbonated
beverage that typically contains a
carbonated water , sweetener and a
flavoring .
 In 1771 a chemistry professor Tobern
Bergman invented the process of
carbonation.
 In 18th century J.J.Schwepess started
a company of carbonated water based on
Pristley process in Geneva .
CATEGORIES
CARBONATED DRINK :
 Contains carbonated drink.
 E.g., Pepsi , Coke , Fanta .
NON-CARBONATED DRINK :
 Contains non-carbonated drink.
 E.g. Juice , Nectars , Squashes .

PRESERVATIVES
 These preservatives are used to inhabit
or retard the growth of microorganism to
prevent spoilage.
 The specific type and level of
preservatives used depend on the nature of
the product.
 Types of preservatives:
benzoic & scorbic acid , sulphur dioxide
and parabens .
Coca Cola: 1886 J.Pemberton ,adopted French
doctor , Angelo Mariani idea of using coca leaves
started selling Pemberton’s French wine coca in
Jacob’s Pharmacy as medical aid. In 1888 G.Candler
bought acompany,4 years later coca cola sold in
every state , memorabilia ideas begin.(1904 caffiene
added to cocaine for safety. 1982 Coca Cola launch
Diet Coke first brand extension.
Pepsi: 1989 first made in North Carolina by Caleb
Bradham (sold it from his drug store called it as Brad’s
drink) , marketed as a digestive drink (contained
pectin) . 1901 renamed as Pepsi Cola.
Sprite:  It is a colorless, lemon and lime-
flavored soft drink created by The Coca-Cola
Company . It was first developed in  West
Germany in 1959 as Fanta Klare Zitrone ("Clear
Lemon Fanta") and was introduced in the United
States under the current brand name Sprite in 1961
as a competitor to 7 Up .
