PARALLELS
• Parallels are imaginary lines that are traced
horizontally on the planet. They never touch
each other.

• The main parallel is the Equator line, which


is also parallel 0.

• There are 90 parallels north and 90 parallels


south. There are 180 parallels in total.
MERIDIANS
• Meridians are imaginary lines that go from
east to west. They meet at the geographic
poles.

• The main meridian is the Greenwich


meridian, which is meridian 0.

• Meridians are numbered from 0 to 180 to


east and from 0 to 180 to west. There are 360
meridians in total.
